B team tonight on 03:43 - Dec 20 with 2510 views | numptydumpty | Some decent potential in that team. It's massive step up from youth to first team but skill levels from a few seem to be there. Fingers crossed but seems the next step is massive and unfortunately its rare that players step up to next level but definitely promising talent from a few on show.

I agree. I haven't seen an awful lot of our U21s from the past but this team does seem like a step up from past ones from my very limited experience. For a start, they seem to be accelerating the jump from U18s to U21s: many of them playing yesterday were only 18/19, including Hawkins, Bala, the Anthony brothers, Dougai, Rossi, Murphy and Aoraha and they didn't look out of place. Those that aren't going to make the first team are moved on quicker rather than just hanging around hoping they're going to magically improve. I'm nowhere near a talent spotter but as numpty says, there appear to be some decent prospects, like Aohara, Hawkins, the two Anthony brothers, Murphy, Pedder and Dougai. The fact they are given a chance to train with the first team shows that there's more of a hope that even one or two of them might get through. With that plus the massively improved training facilities, we have a hope that better youth prospects are more likely to come to us or stay in our academy than in past years.

I think it was Carl Fletcher who was co-commentating, and is involved with Bournmouths youth system. He was talking about how well the QPR youth system is currently doing, and that there was a lot of talent coming through. Maybe, just maybe, some of these youngsters will breakthrough. To my untrained eye some of them looked good.
B team tonight on 10:15 - Dec 20 with 2195 views | dmm | It's great to read these encouraging remarks about our youngsters. From what I've seen this season, Aoraha, Pedder, Bala and Jude-Boyd have impressed me. It is, however, almost impossible to know who will break through as some seem to stop developing. I thought Bettache was going to make it but he seems to be one who have stuttered. Hope I'm wrong on him.
B team tonight on 10:22 - Dec 20 with 2193 views | derbyhoop | I watched the last 20 minutes and Bournemouth hardly got in our half. Rs looked comfortable on the ball, knocking it about well, without creating too many chances. Echoes of 1st team? But they got the win. 2nd goal was a keeper error but Bala kept his cool and lobbed him from 25m as he was rushing back A long way off Championship pace but the odd 1 or 2 might offer something in years to come.

Yes, I thought Bettache looked like he was a tidy player who could do a job for us, at least as a squad player. The Oldham move was a bit of a disaster though. I'm not sure if that affected his progress or whether he had just maxed out his development. Maybe if you're not pulling up trees in Division 1 and 2 like Eze and Chair, it's a strong indicator that you won't step up in the Championship.
B team tonight on 13:36 - Dec 20 with 1926 views | derbyhoop | I cannot see a future at QPR for Bettache, Alfa, Owens nor Masterson. They've not pushed on and they are now in the way of others who might.

I think Pedder is particularly promising and maybe the first one to break through next. Very tidy with the ball, skillful, little bit of pace and creates chances. Think we signed him from our feeder club - Spurs youth set up.

You could probably add Duke-McKenna to that list as well, not playing for leyton Orient, though may have had an injury. Kelman playing though.

B team tonight on 14:27 - Dec 20 with 1794 views | aston_hoop | Yeah didn't see much of the pace last night, but was tidy enough. Was very impressed with whichever Anthony it was who came in on the left wing in the second half though, great movement and great swagger too. Had their full back on toast

I agree. Bettache plays way too deep, like Dozzell. Needs to do the runs that JoJo does or at least stay up top like an AMC and then he could do real damage to the oppo. He has the skills but not the strategic knowledge. I hoped this was because he was young and learning his game, but I suspect he likes playing deep as he has more time on the ball to look good. However, this is not very effective and forwards attacking. Masterson is League One level, we can sometimes get away with him as a backup, but it's a risk. He is not terrible in my view, but he is just not either fast enough on the ground or dominant enough in the air. Alfa and Owens I have not seen. I worry about Kelman, I am not sure he will make it. Lacks pace and/or shooting accuracy. You can compare him to our ex Paul Smyth who looks good as for me he always has, but it was his injury problems that prevented him from progressing with us. It will be really annoying if Smyth now goes on to have no more injuries as he will be a success. Good luck to him anyway. Armstrong should be given a run in the 1st team and allow Alfa and others to gain experience in the B team.

B team tonight on 20:55 - Dec 22 with 1193 views | stanistheman | In fairness to Bettache and his disastrous loan to Oldham, it would have been hard to shine in that poor side that deservedly got relegated. The lack of investment in that squad and poor management from the top meant Bettache going there was a complete and utter waste of time. He should never have been sent there. Had he gone to a top half club we might have seen some better development.
