https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/jul/16/huge-market-untapped-lack-of-vis

Already on its knees in recent years thanks to the Welsh Govts unnecessarily heavy Covid restrictions, refusal to deal with M4 congestion and seeming intention to actually make getting around in Wales even harder. To top that off we've still got the mooted tourist tax to come.

Is there anything in this country that they can't screw up?

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Which is welsh, is it not?

Plumb eh? Can't wait for our next meet D 😉

Your Welsh and II called you a plumb, is that an attack on Wales too?

Really, if you can't see the difference between attacking our country and attacking our politicians then you'd best put me on ignore because I'm going to offend you.

The tourist tax will help fund that aspiration.

How much do you think a tourist tax will raise then? Unless it's billions it won't help fund anything really.

So come on, how much do you think, 100 million, 200, 300?

Even then, with Drakeford pledging to not improve roads or build new roads how does the tourist tax make things better? by the way, 300 million doesn't build much of a road. It may cover the costs of changing all the road signs to 20 and the costs of the extra MS's we're having forced on us

You have set up your own straw man and then attacked it.
Not sure why ?

I have no idea how much it will raise.
Whatever it is should be reinvested in Wales so the future tourists will be well catered for.

Are you against investing in our tourist industry ?

I'm not the one in support of a tourist tax so first sentence

Second sentence, no, none of us know but as I said, unless it's billions it won't be enough to make any impact.

The last sentence is yet again, puerile. Where have I said or even suggested that? In fact I have been attacking the Senedd for not investing in this countrys infrastructure but that part is obviously beyond your comprehension.

Don't you ever wonder others on here call you the board idiot?

Fireboy doesn’t knock England. He has friends and family there.
He is Welsh and proud of it.
All you do is knock Wales. You can’t help it.
You have knocked Swansea for years too.
A sad case you are.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

I am not the one unable to present a coherent position. Thats you.

So you dont support a Tourist tax.
Indeed you sneer at how much it could raise.

But you also support investment in the welsh tourist industry.

I am not sure you understand much of the world around you, poor dab, but where are you going to get all the money from then ?

As ex-PM May has previously stated …. ‘There is no magic money tree, butt …’ 🤡

Better investment in infrastructure will bring more tourists to Wales, resulting in more jobs, more money spent in Wales by tourists and of course increased income tax, NI and vat receipts.

Poll: Sholud Wales rollout vaccination at full speed.

I agree.

When do we get our share of the HS2 money like Scotland and the north of Ireland have ?
That basic fairness would help a lot.

Wales already gets £3000 more per person than England as you well know yet Drakeford still manages to squander it.

Even when the UK government offers to fully finance the M4 relief road out of the UK Government infrastructure programme Drakeford still refuses the money.

Yes everyone is entitled to their political views and the result of and election or referendum should be respected even if you don't like the result.

Whoosh indeed.

I don't support a tourist tax because I believe it will deter people from coming here, along with the rubbish infrastructure that darekford won't be improving. All of that means a dwindling income and less to spend on improving things but you can't get your head around that idea.

A tourist tax is not a magic source of money either.

If a poll was done I think I know who be mamed the site clown and I'd get a few votes but I wouldn't win. it'd be one of the few thinsg you'd win at.

We don't need a magic money tree, we need politicians who have a clue, in the Senedd AND in Westminster.

Now this coherent position, yours seems to be that not developing infrastructure, allowing the economy to dwindle and taxing visitors is a good way to improve things, lets give it 5 years and see what the tourist numbers are eh.

If she genuinely did say that I would have expected that every single Welsh person on this forum would be livid.

'England will not tolerate anymore interference from the rest of the UK'. Which is effectively saying that England are our Lords and masters. Is Wales not part of the UK ? Are we not allowed to have opinions ?

I can't believe there are a few posts that just appear to have accepted this as okay.

I’ve no issue with a tourist tax per se, if the money is used wisely.

I see it a bit like the Severn bridge, o toll to pay for itself.

Did tourist numbers explode when the toll booths went?
