Ridiculous amount of criticism for Aaron Drewe
Came into the game early and can't remember the last match he was involved in.
And was up against their most creative player by a country mile and the effect of Thomas was limited throughout.
Ok he is not good at the forward play but he is a defender and also considering he had only Willock in front of him on that side, he did OK.
Weird that a lot of fans jumping on his back.
Fourteen other players on the pitch who more experienced and basically did Jack sh*t themselves but lump on the young guy coming on in his first game for long time who did what he had to do.
I feared the worst with Cannon coming off after 20 minutes or so but despite Thomas being their greatest threat, they were like us fighting on scraps...

in hindsight at least we equalised and perhaps he wasn't quite as bad as it looked being as he was targeted

Agree the defence looks solid and Huddersfield only had one real chance which came from an offside.
We need to create more chances at the other end. I’d like to see Chair and Willock (or Smyth) switching during games occasionally to freshen things up a bit. Our goal came from Chair out on the right whipping in a lovely cross and too often on the left he’s trying to cut back on to his right foot. |  | | |

Cannon was getting rinsed by their 14 and I was a bit concerned when Drewe lined up against him with very little support but by the end of the game I would marginally have given him our MOTM or maybe Cook. He coped very well and his pace really helped him in his efforts. Going forward I recall a couple of poor passes and a ball pushed into space that should have gone wide to Smyth but overall he provided a reliable outlet along his side and was involved in some good build up play.
I would say that was his best game for us so far and definitely showed promise. |  |

I’m not sure what the issue is. As Bazz says Drewe isn’t the problem here .
He came on and had to deal with the best player on the pitch (also the biggest bellend apart from the ref) with no help at all from Willock and dealt with him very well. He stopped a number of crosses and looked comfortable in possession .
The 2 passses in the attacking third that everyone moaned at I didn’t think were his fault . The first down line for Willock was weighted ok but Willock had the piano on his back and chucked it in . The pass was fine I just thought Willock was utter shite.
The second one in the last minute or so was a ball into space that 3 R’s players standing wide just stood and watched .
Sometimes a ball into space is made to look bad by the dickheads standing still and not moving where they should be .
He’s not a world beater . He’s too small and too lightweight but if he is the target of your frustration then it says more about you than him. |  | | |

Drewe got a hand to the face, kept on and fouled his opponent. It was never a yellow card. He had to deal with that for the rest of the match. Obviously targeted by Moore, which is fair enough. I thought he had a very decent game defensively, not so hot going forward, but he did rather well, for me. |  |

I've not seen "ridiculous amounts of criticism" targeting Drewe.
I've not seen people "angry" about his performance.
I, and a couple of others, stated that he's not good enough (he isn't). He's national League level at best.
He tried today. He did ok in defence. His passing was woeful, summed in the last minute of the game when he knocked a through ball out for their goal kick.
I don't hate the lad, I don't dislike him as an individual. He's definitely not worth people getting upset about either way. [Post edited 28 Jan 18:52]
