Transfer rumours 2024 19:24 - Apr 28 with 765505 viewsWilkinswatercarrier

Started already since we thumped the Yorkshire Massive so going early.

Apparently we are linked with Bosun Lawal. Celtic, on loan at Fleetwood, centre midfield or centre back. 20 years old, Irish apparently.

Feel free to add as they come in !

Good few pages of posts.

I’m firmly in agreement with Antti, Clive, and Dave.

I hope this is all budgeted and we’re not just repeating the Warburton gamble season again. I also expect a sale to balance this out.

However, how anyone can have confidence faith that “it’ll all be fine” is beyond me. Nourry is a 27 CEO with zero experience of running a P&L. He is a consultant. He also appears to be much more focussed on his DOF role than the CEO role. Our Chairman is the old CEO who allowed us to get into the mess we were in under Warburton in his last season which birthed the last two seasons of pain. The majority shareholder was a major shareholder during that whole period. And the Data Director is the same fella who has yet to identify a player we have paid a transfer fee for who we have then sold for more money. So expecting us to turn a profit on these signings and trade our way out of the breach is also somewhat hopeful I’d say.

I’m excited for Saturday. I’m hopeful, but I am far from confident this is all in hand. Nourry might be a genius, but it is far far too early to anoint him as such, and very dangerous to assume he is just because he sold Armstrong to Bristol City for £2.5m. Since he’s been here I understand we’ve twice over sold the ground and been VERY lucky this didn’t result in a safety issue and/or fine. It’s not all shining beacons of competence yet.

I'm curious - oversold the number of tickets? How could we have done that?

I don’t know. But I’m sure there were reports at the time about it, where people had the same ticket: stand, row and seat. Going off on a tangent though.

Signings are hopefully all budgeted properly, but I think you’d be mad to assume they have been given what I’ve put in my last post, unless we see a big sale (or Eze goes) shortly, or Palace have bought his clause out and the club aren’t publicising it.

At the risk of being a miserable bastard, people also need to remember that Cook, Colback, Frey and Andersen are all earning *well* this season having worked with the club to get them in last year.

I can understand why people are slightly nervous, these are not people with a good track record of fiscal responsibility and the owners ultimately *only* care about getting promoted so I could easily see a scenario where they’ve decreed to splash the cash and go for it this year.

That said, my suspicion (hope?) is that there is going to be an outgoing next week to somewhat balance the books.

My hope is that the club has not being transfer business on the assumption that there might be an outgoing. This would be very reckless. And, with the club providing less and less information on transfer deals makes me very anxious and suspicious. I wish i could have 10 minutes face to face with Christian Noury in order to understand why they are keeping (hiding) details from the fans. I just dont buy this narrative that it puts QPR at a disadvantage and if anything it makes me question the clubs and Noury's understanding of football and football fans in general. If the going gets tough and when time answers some of the many questions raised in this thread..............

Interesting thought, Hunter. Hadn't occurred to me, and it is possible.

That had crossed my mind. Presumably they would have based such a deal on the 60 million release clause.

Take 10% now and reduce the overall deal by 5-10%

I'm already bracing myself for the snidey comments about 'big spending QPR' and 'how we bought promotion' as we gradually tear this league a second one.

I say....fck 'em!!

Nice to try and belittle Noury as just 'an advisor' He was actually Managing Partner for Europe for Retexo Intelligence. Their clients include Roma, Anderlecht Athletic Bilbao, PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona and various other top European sides. He was involved in providing key services including audits. So not really just an 'advisor'.

Interesting idea especially if the £60m buy out expired this month. Palace, knowing he could then move for more than £60m post that happening May have offered the sell on at £60m or a haircut on it knowing that they may sell for much more afterwards.

Or as I raised before. We may have received the thick end of £3m from him starting a game for England in the summer…..

It was amazing because we expected nothing at all.

Wasn't that in part because Nourry had made a comment that suggested we'd be unlikely to be making signings when he arrived? I can't remember exactly what he said but think there was something that suggested something along those lines.

Retexo Intelligence was a 2-man band consisting of Nourry and his friend Charles Gould who both gave themselves job titles of Managing Partner. The impressive sounding job titles is par for the course for anyone starting a company e.g. Founder, CEO, Managing Director etc. They specialised as recruitment consultants for non-football staff using data-driven methods.

Seeing the prices being paid for Center Backs at the lower end of Prem I am surprised JCS has not moved on to balance the books. We are at the height of his value and much though I like him it would have made sense

I guess we have a week and it may still happen as when you read Brentford paying 20m quid for Van Den Berg (who was on loan at Preston I think? )Then 10m for JCS not beyond the realm.

Agree, however when prospective PL purchasers see how JCS got skinned against Spurs they may temper their their desire to pay 10 mil.

That aside 10 mil is probably money well spent in the that crazy league, 25 for Skipp makes anything less look a steal.

But we don't actually know it'll be us doing that Dembele selling do we?

You're right.

I'd gone off stuff I'd read two weeks ago leading up to the signing referencing a piece in The Athletic that included the option to buy for £1.4m, but there's no mention of the option to buy in any of the signing reports, only 'initial' loan.

I still believe there's an option to buy, but like so much in this thread there's very little foundation to build any case for anything, because we don't actually have the information outside of 'rumour' from web articles....but then that is the title of this thread :)

Sky now reporting a deal is close to being completed for Marsden initial fee £2m so I don’t where this £3m + comes from

We are a strange group. The club seem to have had a good window but the response is to worry about FFP. If there had been no incoming players this window the response would be to worry about relegation and to accuse the owners of no longer being interested in the club. Would there ever be a time when everybody is happy.
