It seems his mins playing for QPR as a trend are going down per game.
That as a trend.

Lets start with the Stoke game in November when our good run of form began (some may say it was later) to see how the mins on the pitch have gone.

D - Stoke = 61
W - Cardiff = 81
D - Watford = 64
W - Norwich = 67
W - Oxford = 67
D - Bristol = 16
W - Preston = Benched
L - Swansea = 45
D - Norwich = 32
W - Watford = 13
W - Luton = Benched.

Fear my Jack Supple analytical powers!

It looks like he's a sub being considered less and less, with Varane, Colback, Field and Morgan ahead of him. He seems to be only just ahead of EDB at the moment. If he goes higher up the formation, he has to compete with Saito, Chair, Smyth, Frey, Kolli, Llyod and even Andersen.

So, I expect him to start against Leicester so as the others get a rest, probably in for Morgan.

But unless he ups his game a lot, I cannot see a way back for him at the moment.

zzzzzzzzzz

I've run out of patience with him, and it looks like MC has as well.
I look at the team and can't see who he would replace. The sad thing for him is he is a better 'footballer' in terms of technical ability and passing than Varane and Field.

But, as Clive says, we now 'Run, tackle and head'. All the things Madsen just can't/won't do.
I really hope he plays against Leicester and has a blinder as we can't be wasting £3m or whatever it was on him.
If not, then it'll be interesting to see what happens in the summer with him.

Direct correlation between lack of minutes for Madsen and upturn in form. Send him to the reserves so he can't impact the team, cut our losses and sell him for whatever we can get.

Absolute rubbish and waste of money. Never thought i'd dislike a player more than Dozzell, but here we are.

Only real negative in a pretty likeable squad at the moment. Sickening to think what better use could have been done with the money spent (like a left back which we actually needed)

Totally agree. If you are that lazy/ ineffectual most of the time you have to be really inspirational in fleeting moments, and he is far from that. We are now playing at a much quicker tempo, tackling and pressing. He has no place in this team whatsoever. I assume we will cut our losses on him and try to get him free-transferred in the summer.

He has every skill except pace and movement off the ball. There's just no room on MC's QPR for players who lack those qualities, and sadly he does. Too bad. He can place a ball on a sixpence from one side of the pitch to the other. Unfortunately that's not enough.

I wonder what's happened to Lucas Andersen too. Age? Injuries? ...?

Madsen Mins on 19:30 - Jan 8 with 1851 viewsJigsore

I wonder if you could play him in some sort of deep lying forward position. Try get him to do that Harry Kane thing and spray passes for runners - and he's supposedly good at penalties too.

Clutching at straws? Definitely! But we may have a few more years of Madsen yet!

He might get a start on Saturday, and if he does, I really hope he doesn't try to coast through the game. I don't think the club can afford to just move him without receiving a fee.

A bit worrying that we still don't know what his best position is yet (other than the bench).

Absolutely! Feathers will be rightly spat if he is. Marti needs to challenge the spine and nucleus of the side that's been doing so well at home to now go and cause a minor upset away.

Seems like a decent man. Was i understand extremely helpful for Jimmy Dunne during his sad recent loss and is likeable within the squad, which is one bar up from Taylor Richards and obviously he is fit and healthy and attends all training sessions etc which again Mr Richards seems to not have been able to do.

But appreciate we would all wish that he could grow into the team and squad like a few others have. If he could succeed clearly that's what we all want for him too.

For me Madsen, Celar and Anderson are the three players that haven't quite cut the mustard so far.

Madsen has scored a very decent penalty and was supporting Frey up top when he scored from open play in the away game against Luton. And he has offered a few intelligent passes and flicks but agree with others that currently it doesn't seem like there is enough physicality and visibility in games to succeed here.

No way can I compare him with Dozzell as yet. Dozell went missing for about three or four seasons and he seemed to be a permanent first teamer then.

We have so many other options even accounting for a few out injured too.

I can't completely say I have given up on him. Maybe a few ten minute cameos, he can create and have more impact under less pressure. If anyone can get out of form players contributing it's Marti, but yes it's certainly not really been happening as of yet.

I think we'll end up writing him off but I'll give him credit for putting the yards in for the Norwich win at home. Pressed and chased down enough to stop them getting comfortable at the back and was on the end of a pretty cùnty challenge that looked a thick yellow to me.

Strangely his problem seems to be in his head. Just poses when he plays, thinks doing that closing down / tackling stuff is beneath him. Love to know who did the due diligence on his character? He is the exact opposite of the ethos of our team, look at Frey runs his proverbial off whilst this guy thinks he's Lionel Messi. Do a Ferdinand with most of his inspired forward signings pay him to leave.

It could be that he would be better in a team playing the style of football that Cifuentes actually wants the team to play. I can't imagine he goes out there with the intent of not getting involved, its more likely that the style just doesn't suit.

Reckon Cifuentes will have another go at changing the style beginning of next season, may see him back in at that point.

But he could equally be on his way. Either way it will be Cifuentes decision

I’d argue he’s quite a big part of the reason we were abysmal playing that way.

Maybe...

There was a lot wrong with that team at the start of the season.

Madsen was an obvious dud from pretty early on this season
I was hoping they could move him on this window to some Euro league where hide n seek is acceptable; the Turkish leagues probably wouldn’t stand him which is a shame.

It’s better to focus on the lads in the squad doing the business but it saddens me to think of the money going out the door for Madsen, Anderson, Celar and that absolute c-unit Taylor Richards.
Take that dosh and sign Dunne and Kolli longer term and have bundles left to sign a LWB and one other player with pace

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Madsen Mins on 22:23 - Jan 8 with 1189 viewsLogman

I agree with pretty much all of the above. Long and short of it is that I think Marti wants us to play a high tempo game with and without the ball. I imagine Madsen was bought on the grounds of being technically good, in the hope that that would translate to being technically good while being able to cover the ground and being combative to enable us to play the high tempo game in and out of position.

I don't ever recall seeing a player going from being a playmaker to a dynamo at any time in their career so I think it's unlikely that Madsen will be a regular for us at any time.

It's an interesting question. Has there ever been an example of a player who has gone from being a playmaker to a dynamo ?

I’m sure he’s lovely guy, but on the football, he’s the worst player we’ve signed and this was obvious to me the first time I watched him play. Sadly it looks like he’s not going to improve any time soon. His total lack of effort/application is unacceptable at this level. When he starts we’re starting with 10 men. Was exactly the same with Dozzell, who I’m also sure is lovely guy.

I also thought Smyth was a gash signing, but the big difference between the two is Smyth puts in 100% effort which makes up for his technical flaws and has steadily improved as a result. Madsen should be doing the same and if he did, I think fans would be more forgiving.

Appreciate this point, but then i'd also argue he was partly at fault for the Norwich equaliser over Christmas where he was jogging rather than tracking his man. Had he done so he could have been in a position to close him down before he took the shot from which they scored (appreciate Paal also carries significant blame for this goal due to poor defending from the throw)

Are you sure??......Varane 'mucked around' at the throw in, they scored from the middle of the pitch near our penalty which is where he should have been!!! Incidentally, I think Varane lost his man from the Luton equaliser.

It's far too early to write him off completely, and let's hope for a multitude of reasons, not least the outlay and contract size, that he can adapt and improve without the pressure of having to start and perform.

The most frustrating part is the hiding, and that it seems a complete waste of a 6ft 4 body - something that when combined with technique, could be a rare and ultra useful commodity in this league. We have seen small glimpses though - with some lovely passes and a few goals - so it's hardly hopeless.

He's still around the squad, and it seems that Marti isn't under pressure to start him. I'd suggest that he's a good part of the group too, which is important, so now it's down to the coaches to make him useful, something I back them to be able to do. He's still young remember, and we have many years to build him up.

Skilfull player who is struggling to get to grips with the intensity of the British game/Championship.

He is a part of the squad and we need to keep working with him and get him as ready as we can, for when he is needed.

He will only improve and adapt with experience.

Therefore he needs to start on Saturday. Centre of attacking midfield, Chair on the left, Saito on the right with two defensive shields behind.

We need a squad and that includes players who aren't injured and can come on for a 10 minute cameo here and there. Madsen has thankfully fallen into that bracket but it's so regrettable that he's that player after he was our most expensive signing in many a long year

Shit but local

I don't recall Wilkins doing much running and tackling and he could pick a pass. Ray had runners around him, though.
