Sorry Nix and others but my eldest daughter needs willing male participants to complete a survey on men's attitudes to mental health.
Some of you may remember me posting over the years about my eldest girls severe mental health illness, which at age 26 she is still dealing with and is awaiting treatment for an eating disorder and extreme OCD.
However, the good news is that she has a life plan now and is in her final year of a Psychology degree via the Open University.
Due to her inadvertently already being an expert in mental health conditions her final module is focusing on the attitude of British men in the 2020s towards seeking help for their mental health - and whether it is more likely that they will seek help if they come in to contact with other men who have previously sort help.
For it to be a valid submission she needs a minimum of 150 qualifying responders and I told her I knew just the place where there were thousands of 18+ men whose mental health has been tested to the limits due to their football club!!!
I piloted the survey and it does ask some challenging questions on attitudes but I can assure you on her behalf (and the introduction to the survey confirms) that it is 100% anonymous and no personal data (including IP addresses) are tracked or stored etc.
On my daughter's behalf I would love as many of you to help and participate in this online survey which should take around 10-15min max to complete.

And I dont know if your daughter is aware but there is a charity that was set up a few years ago up north and I actually first knew about them , when they were handing out wrist bands with their charities name on it when they were handing them out , outside loftus road stadium before a game.
Andys Man Club
Was set up when sadly a young man took his own life and none of his family or friends knew he had a major problem
So by way of making a stand his mother and his best mate set up the charity.
They meet Monday nights and its for men to chat, relax and get things out of their heads and into the open - where they feel safe and supported to chat. Its a completely free service and they split into groups around ten and a few basic questions and they can speak or not and its organised by way of passing a football around so everyone gets their say if they so wish.
Its grown so quickly and is in over 250 towns in England and Wales now, which is amazing and its a support charity that seems to work for men.
Anyhow if your daughter wants to contact - they always willing to explain how their service works etc.

interesting survey. I would have answered the questions very differently when in my 20’s/30’s but now as a 63 yo, I work for a large mental health charity and facilitate support groups for men that have lived experience of abuse in childhood. I am a strong advocate of talking therapy’s and peer group support.

A big thank you to all who have completed the survey in the last 24hrs . Lorna says that by 5pm tonight there has already been around 110 responses - I suspect most of them from all the replies on here as I have not really shared it further than a couple of friends and family.
