Congrats Jimmy! on 23:40 - Mar 23 by rbee | I thought I would watch some of the Scots game as it was a close tie...... |
Scotland were defensively sound in the first leg and both teams looked evenly matched. However, they had an absolute 'mare in the second. They only created two or three chances in the whole game and looked like they could play all day and all night and not score. The Greeks used a high press very effectively and looked very dangerous. They have a 17 year old attacking midfielder called Karetsas who is some player. He scored a beautiful goal from distance, with a first time shot. He plays for Bologna. Lyndon is out with an injury but he was on pundit duty for both games and did a very good job.
| "Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1." |

Kinda wasted the tattoos though, nobody can see them on punditry.

Thank you for posting that lovely article another great example of pride in pulling on the national jersey and the family behind every player. Jimmy could be the odd man out for ROI but at least he is being noticed and got on the field and hopefully stays healthy and features in the June friendlies to try and stamp his spot . Most of the stories are behind paywalls on the Independent but that headline caught my eye .Miss Scotland stripped of her title after being convicted of assault and racially abusing a security guard WTF is going on in her head .

Yep I had kept a shed load of paper clippings from The 'Sligo Champion' when that transfer went through. 30k if memory serves. Didn't work out as well as I hoped, but scored twice for Ireland as a QPR player. Billy Hamilton was doing his thing for NI around the same time I think

Saw Paul McGee play for Rovers but never for Rangers. He was a star in the great Sligo team that won the championship back in 76/77 Long time ago now.

Well, Paddy Kenny was probably "the last capped Irish Goalkeeper to play for us." But, do you mean the last Irish Goalkeeper to be capped while playing for us? In which case, I really haven't a clue!

‘Well, Paddy Kenny was probably "the last capped Irish Goalkeeper to play for us’ Nope, there was at least one more… I’ll give you a clue. He either barely played for QPR, barely played for Ireland, or both of those. [Post edited 24 Mar 20:03]

Nope, I'm beaten. The only other Irish goalie I can think of is Brian Murphy and he didn't get a senior cap.

An amazing quiz question on a number of levels because Westwood has 21 Irish caps and David Marshall has 47 Scotland caps.

Wasn't it seven goalkeepers that season. Another question, name all seven.

Congrats Jimmy! on 14:58 - Mar 25 with 574 views | Loft1979 | The debate on Goalkeepers started here deserves another thread. Especially considering that with Begovic, Marshall and Westwood (plus Seny playing for Senegal) we had 3 international keepers in a relatively short span. Brings to mind other conversations on the board about our present, ever present keeper.
