Just saw this has been voted for by the clubs and will come in to play next season, with a system which is currently in place in the conference league.
Obviously, this won't effect us and our usual season finish of 16th!
But I can't decide whether or not this is a good thing really. If you finished 3rd and a good number of points clear of 7/8th place and you lost to them in the final you would be pretty hacked off. But I guess those will now be the rules. |  | | |  |

They could if they wanted to but then you have to think about the cost of arranging the poll, and the time it would take.
Wikipedia does have a page of English fan-owned clubs.
I took a quick skim and I think Exeter and Chesterfield are the only ones in the EFL:

Even then I would assume they appoint a board which has the power to decide the questions you outlined.
EDIT - AFC Wimbledon are on the list of fan owned clubs. But their legal structure is still that of a private limited company.

None of those questions have the potential to conflict with the interests of the shareholders.
The club could poll its members if it wanted to.
But the result would have no legal effect (unless the club constitution was written so that the club had to be bound by such polls).
If the board and the owners decided they didn't like the fans decision they would just ignore it.
So unless the owners and the fans are in agreement the poll just creates the potential for conflict and unrest within the club, which helps no one.

Any poll you do on VAR comes out, minimum, 70:30 in favour of getting rid of it altogether. Wolves brought it to a vote with the Premier League and the teams voted 19:1 in favour of keeping it, Wolves the only ones with the balls to vote against.
That's not right.
It doesn't have to be like that either. In Norway the fans played holy hell and disrupted the games until they got rid of it.
We're a good example actually. Tony Fernandes voted for the introduction of the FFP rules that we ended up getting stiffed with. That's somebody who was here for a short period of time, had a disastrous track record of decision making, voting on behalf of our club on an issue that has screwed us ever since. English football fans aren't going to be as militant as the Norwegians were.
And even if they were, fan protests at matches are unlikely to change things.
In England it's the TV companies that hold all the financial power. If you wanted to campaign for change you would try to boycott fans watching games on TV or online. And that would need to be an almighty boycott to have any affect.
On the subject of VAR it was the TV companies who kept pushing for it, then once they got their way they were rubbishing it from literally day one. VAR isn't about the integrity of the game, it's about generating talking points and heated debates.
With respect to FFP. When it was first touted it was talked up as a way of constraining big clubs from overspending and I think there was quite a lot of support for it generally (not just Tony Fernandes). It was only when the dust settled that everyone realised FFP effectively ringfenced the power of the wealthiest clubs and gave them an even tighter stranglehold on the game. [Post edited 5 Mar 15:27]

Looks to me like they are continuing to use VAR in Norway's top flight League in the soon to start 2026 season The Clubs in the top 2 divisions voted to scrap it, but a vote that included grassroot Clubs (where it's not used) voted overwhelmingly to keep it. My tuppeny opinion:
I don’t care anymore. How football is governed, changes that are made, formations, who does what to whom.
The joy of most of this game is being eroded slowly and methodically. I don’t watch any football anywhere bar Rangers. Unless we move many miles away from The Bush I don’t think I’ll stop going but that is purely for the people and friendships I’ve bult up. That’s it.
Every change is just a way for big clubs or TV to make money. That’s it.

I'm a bit torn on it all. I quite like it in the National League and I think it's good it gives more teams a chance to get invovled but I'm not hugely convinced this is going to make the league any better.
I'd prefer if they did 4 up 4 down so top 3 go up then down to 7th for the Playoffs but the Premier League won't want that.
