| Summer transfer rumours 2026 on 00:38 - Jul 7 by KensalT | Fair point. What I meant was that I don't think Nourry would enough of a lemon to let four keepers go and leave us with an empty cupboard. So I am assuming that at least one keeper has signed on the dotted line for us (I certainly hope so!) Nourry did make some good signings last summer. The Burrell deal went completely under the radar. And landing Kone in the face of stiff competition was a coup. But overall some of his squad development has been very questionable. And as Hunter has said many times, the acid test for Nourry's wheeling and dealing will be when we start moving on players that he has signed for a decent profit. And we are yet to cross that hurdle. I was optimistically thinking that there has been no announcement thus far because the club did not want the announcement overshadowed by the World Cup or even better........ We have perhaps signed one of the international keepers playing there (a la Stejskal.) Pretty please. | | | |

| Summer transfer rumours 2026 on 10:23 - Jul 7 by Stainrod | I mean Hunter, you have just gone on a huge diatribe there about why you hate the regime. Fine. Your right to do so etc. But to bring it back to the subject we were actually discussing, (our under-performing goalkeeper potentially leaving) you didn’t even address my point that no club provides a running commentary on transfer negotiations. As for the suggestion that this is somehow connected to an evil plot to divide the fan base, well, we all have opinions etc. Reported elsewhere we are pursuing Venezuela’s international goalkeeper. It doesn’t sound like some hugely sinister and complex conspiracy to me. Most likely QPR agreed the loan of Walsh (which btw you and other critics don’t seem to oppose in itself, so instead you all fixate on the process). Wigan were told not to announce the fact until we tied up a deal for his replacement. But in the social media age it leaks out. It happens. The announcement remains held up until his replacement is secured - precisely because if they formally announce news of Walsh’s departure first there will be even more of a negative clamour than we have seen on here. If fans are really so upset that we are temporarily a position or two down in close season, maybe for their well being they should go off social media over the summer and come back when it’s hopefully all sorted. If the position is not sorted a week or two out from the opening game I will be as annoyed as you. For the moment I will focus on worrying to more important stuff while enjoying the summer with the World Cup and Wimbledon etc. But again each to their own. |
Stainrod, you’re creating a straw man. Go back and read my first post on the matter. I’m not actually annoyed about the situation, as you insinuate. My original post, a page or so back, was merely saying it’s not ideal to go on your pre-season tour with one keeper from your youth set up. It’s not. It’s not great planning. It’s not a massive issue, as I said in that post, but it’s not a great position to put yourself in. It’s not very strategic. And it’s avoidable with better planning. You then responded to that, effectively saying “don’t moan about that”. All I’ve been saying then is that we shouldn’t normalise and accept this stuff. It should be commented on. Because it all adds up to indicate how we’re being run. I’m thoroughly enjoying the WC (not really got into Wimbledon this year, mind), and thought the game the other night was superb. As I said on the other thread, I think England have a genuine chance and have thought so from the start. Commenting that we’re very short on goalkeepers after pre-season is underway is sub-optimal doesn’t need push back. It’s a QPR forum. Ever since, I’ve been arguing that point. I’m not angry though. I know we’ll sign a keeper or two (as I’ve said on the thread). That doesn’t make the situation good though. If you don’t care, that’s cool too. You’re painting a false picture. What I am fed up about is our fanbase normalising stuff that isn’t normal nor accepted by most other fan bases. That’s why I responded to you, because it just feels like that’s what you’re trying to do again. Hope that explains things better. If you weren’t let’s move on and let’s agree that we hopefully bring in a no. 1 in the next 2-3 of weeks.

His last minute save against Egypt was one of the saves of the tournament. Harry Souttar will also be looking for a move away from Leicester. Solid as a rock and a leader on the pitch.

Massive salary. And we already have a fair chunk of the wage bill spent on centre halves (Edwards, JCS, Dunne, Morrison, plus Smith and others coming through). Doubt we’ll be spending on centre halves. Be really interesting to see what they do at keeper: development/resell prospect or someone at the peak of their powers? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

So I'm coming at this from the position of agreeing with you, and disagreeing with Hunter on the goalkeeper issue. It's July 7. We'll be signing a goalkeeper. Possibly more than one. It's QPR, of course there'll be signings. We've spent money (serious money) over the last few windows so perhaps now we have to get people out to get people in - RND goes back, Boy Kemper comes in etc. Doing a few friendlies in Austria with Murphy Cooper or Salamon or whoever might be quite a positive thing, let's have a look at them. And for me Walsh going is a positive, I'd be more worried if they were thinking about doing another year with him. So, I'm with you. I do, however, share a lot of Hunter's concerns about things that are happening at the club that are not only being normalised, but also supporters are going out to bat for against other supporters. I see this happening more and more online, and more and more at the meetings I attend to represent this site. At the last fans forum the issue of hiding the contract lengths was raised again and Christian belittled the questioner - saying this was not a topic he ever got asked about by QPR fans on his many journeys on the Central Line. Basically saying - it's only you who cares about this, most QPR fans don't. If you listen back to the recent fan sites meeting he does the same to me when I asked where this idea QPR fans had been abusing concessionary tickets has come from - can I have the data please, "look I get your line of questioning, I've told you we'll provide that later" (postscript, they never did, just a nice round £47k figure). They also did it to Mark who asked why our pitch suddenly died in the middle of last season - "if you want to do this again we can". I.e. I've told you this already, stop asking. Mark asked that because he (and I, as it goes) doesn't believe the reason they've given, but he was belittled for asking the question. Now, look, we've all regularly taken the pis out of the people who go to the fan forum to ask about water pressure or why their son got booted from the academy, but I do believe people have a right to ask the club whatever they want, and to criticise the club about things that are important to them. I see other fans joining in with this now as well. Because they don't personally care or think it's important, they set upon the person asking it. The fan sites and podcasts are being divided up as "positive and negative" - oh it's bloody Clive and LFW asking difficult questions and being negative again, oh Finney's podcast is just so negative these days. The fan site meetings are increasing fractious, unpleasant and uncomfortable. My suspicion this year is that's going to manifest itself in who gets access, interviews, podcast appearances, and who doesn't. I don't agree with him, but Hunter is entitled to be annoyed we don't have a goalkeeper ready to go for our pre-season which starts on Saturday, just as you and I are entitled to think it doesn't really matter at this stage.

This is the reason we need a really strong set of fan representatives with actual power at football clubs like the one Lee Hoos laughed at when it was raised in that video Q&A. Let the candidates campaign on a platform, be it tap pressure or big strategic changes, and the rest of us elect them. Brief chats between Holland Park and White City is no engagement strategy at all. Why do we never hear from the Supporter Advisory Board? I'm sure the lack of shared publicity isn't down the fans who represent us on it. [Post edited 7 Jul 13:00]

They've improved this massively in the last few weeks, so they are trying, and there are some very good people on there (Dave Thomas for one). Although again it took LFW running a story on it, for which we've taken an absolute tonne of aggro and sht, to spark that.

Agree with this: unless I’ve missed it neither Wigan nor QPR have announced anything official about Walsh coming in or going out so it’s pretty amateurish of Wigan having him on public display beforehand.

Well, i'll confess, I didn't know about the Twitter account, but eight months of silence is a long stretch and an email address on the website isn't the same as active collaboration. I'm not really criticising the people on it, because I know how tough it is to volunteer for thankless tasks, but I think the club needs to do more to promote this partnership and it's successes, not least to demonstrate they don't resent their existence.

Yes. I agree with that. It would be good if there were meetings between the SAB and the fans, or ways for the SAB to canvass the opinions of fans on important issues. And the SAB members do deserve credit for taking on such a big commitment.

Thank you for the very reasoned response. I also appreciate your comments about Walsh: I was starting to question my sanity as I got considerable blow back for simply pointing out that a) hardly anyone wanted Walsh as our stopper next season, and b) it’s much more important we sign the best keeper we possibly can rather than getting in any old keeper just so they can announce a Number 1 in the close season to appease impatient fans. I also respect that for the likes of you and Hunter and no doubt many posters things like fans forums and revealing contract lengths are super important. And whilst I don’t share that fascination I hope I have never posted anything here which would suggest I don’t respect those posters. But if you will allow me I will also explain what frustrates those of us (probably a minority among regular posters here but not, I would hazard, among the fanbase as a whole). And that is that everything seems to be analysed on here through the prism of dislike of Nourry. This is a thread about summer transfers. There is another thread specifically about Nourry. It’s your site so your call and I also get that it is the nature of message boards that the chat runs off topic: but isn’t that the thread where this discussion about fans forums etc more comfortably sits? I’m not trying to close down debate or criticism of Nourry. Nor would I post the borderline personal criticism of Hunter by another poster. But I do get the boredom and frustration of that poster that even a positive development like Walsh’s likely departure is turned into yet another evisceration of the CEO and myriad QPR processes (most of which is old ground). I think you guys who do feel so strongly about this are among QPR’s very most passionate fans so respect there, and it’s genuinely sad to me that supporting a club (which is meant to be a hobby and fun) is clearly now a form of torture for some. I also get that every site will have frustrations, and they will be different frustrations to different posters. I am a refugee from Fantasy Island because I grew appalled how over the close season it morphed into a Tommy Robinson / Nigel Farage fans forum more than a QPR one. So maybe the problem is me and I should stay off forums! As for Nourry (and I really do promise I am not his PR adviser), even his critics on here acknowledge that the coming season is the to judged him on. To me that is not an empty conclusion. And that judgement ultimately will depend on a) league position and b) whether he lands a big sale and continues to improve the squad. So in my view it’s only fair to wait and see how this plays out, tho’ I appreciate that puts me firmly in the minority here. And I guess it would be boring if we were all in violent agreement on everything.

Thanks, Clive. But to reiterate, I’m not annoyed. I just think it’s sub-optimal and avoidable if you want to have the best pre-season you can and hit the ground running. It was a known issue area all through last season. That’s all. I got annoyed about being told not to raise it as an issue! All I want is the club to be as good as it can. Over and out.

Is your kit clean and your boots ready. Could be a mov up from weekly 5-a-sides to the Championship? Are you interested?

| Summer transfer rumours 2026 on 14:42 - Jul 7 by Stainrod | Thank you for the very reasoned response. |
Firstly, don't quit forums. They need a wide range of opinions, even minority ones. And your views are valid as anyone else's. Second. CEO is the most important role in any organisation. And Nourry may or may not also be de facto DoF. When you choose to make everything about you it's inevitable that you are the focus of attention when fans aren't happy. Sometimes that viewpoint leaks into every discussion around the club. It isn't necessarily helpful but it doesn't mean there is some sort of organised anti-Nourry agenda. For me, Nourry's lack of experience and credentials for such an important job have always been the issue and continue to be the issue. But I don't sit up late into the night sticking pins into a homemade Nourry doll. If Nourry succeeds the club succeeds too. And we all want that. I think that's the bottom line for all of us, regardless of any doubts we hold about the man himself. Finally, I know Clive gets rightly peeved when threads drift off-topic, so I will make this my final comment on this point.

| Summer transfer rumours 2026 on 08:54 - Jul 5 by TK1 | July 5th, everybody. There has never been a season whereby time the window closes in September QPR haven't signed substantially more players than I believed were needed at the start of July, including seasons we were totally skint. There will be goalkeepers, fullbacks, midfielders and even positions you thought we were well stocked in. They'll have verbal agreements ready with all sorts, including a keeper. Spitaballing here - walk with me - how about Cooper goes to Wednesday and we take Charles in return? Think that's possible. There'll be loads going on like that. Loads. |
I had absolutely no inside information or insight about this. But it is reassuring to me that any time that anyone on this forum has a bright idea, the club have probably had that idea already. Walsh to Wigan on loan, Cooper to Wednesday loan/sale, Charles to QPR on loan does make sense for this season. QPR just have to book in answering the same questions in 12 months instead. I'm sure they'll sign a vet keeper too.
