I had absolutely no inside information or insight about this. But it is reassuring to me that any time that anyone on this forum has a bright idea, the club have probably had that idea already.
Walsh to Wigan on loan, Cooper to Wednesday loan/sale, Charles to QPR on loan does make sense for this season. QPR just have to book in answering the same questions in 12 months instead. I'm sure they'll sign a vet keeper too.

But I do know that PC and Murphy Cooper had an identical save percentage in the Championship last season. Both had 68.9%

Charles is one of the most highly rated young keepers in the country. It's why he's signing for Man City this week. Cooper is neither of those things.
Save percentages are no metric really, especially when you're playing behind Sheff W's defence last season. Step away from the data! Charles has got amazing distribution too, it's why City are after him. It would transform us. |  | | |

First team GK at QPR needs to be experienced - none of these young pup signings on loan etc tick the box for me.
That back 5 unit needs cohesion and a big part of that is a big bstard in the box directing the 4 in front of him, constantly talking through the game. Also needs to be the commanding voice at set pieces.
I did fear anothe raft of young inexpereinced prospects this summer - loans would be even worse.
If we don't replace the charecter and nouse of Cook and Field then we're done for (at this stage IMHO and all that). |  |

If we can't purchase a decent sub 30's goalkeeper prospect then I would absolutely do a loan there and have said as much.
I'm not sure about Pierce Charles, but a Vitek, Rushworth, Pattison type I'd be well up for, yes. In the same way I was very in favour of RND rather than persevering with the ridiculous notion Esquerdinha was a valid option for us. Particularly as we've let our experience bleed out, largely.
One, or two, strategic loans, very good, very valuable.
But that year under Beale we had Laird, Roberts, Iroegbunam, Richards and Lowe. And once the going got tough none of them really gave a sht, did they?
If you're running your maximum five loans then either that's done in January to get you out of some sht you created for yourself, or it's to get you up. Otherwise, what's the point? | | | |

I didn't make a case for either Walsh or Cooper.
We're supposed to be developing our own players, not someone else's.
My criticism was about how we are going about our business rather than a comment about any one individual.
I take your point that being a development club doesn't mean we have to develop players for our own team. But if we can't get them up to mid-table Championship standard then either our recruitment or our development process isn't good enough. Either way we're not likely to make much money out of these players. | | | |

Correct. Agree. BUT, if you’re running a player trading model, and one of your loanees is a youngster, not an experienced pro to help develop the young players you actually own and are looking to sell, then it seems a bit incongruent, does it not? I’m also conscious of what Nourry has said on loanees on the past, which I completely agree with him on. Bringing in PC would be a departure from previous rhetoric. Walsh or Cooper won't get us relegated on their own.
I assume the majority of us believe QPR will finish between 7th and 21st?
Assuming that is the thought of the board too, we should be playing our own while there is no jeopardy, at the very least to enhance a reputation as a development club to parents of aspirational players. | | | |

I think there might be a case for excluding GK from the development model.
Keepers tend to mature later, and even a development squad needs some experience in the mix.
But I would still prefer our own keeper to a loanee. | | | |
