We deeply regret that the court did not recognise FC Nantes' liability in this tragedy.

"Today, we note with bitterness that the principles of transparency, integrity and safety in professional football have not prevailed in this decision - as illustrated by the impunity enjoyed by Willie McKay, a controversial and unlicensed agent, a situation that did not appear to raise concern for FC Nantes, and whose actions contributed to the death of two men.
"How is it possible that Willie McKay can still operate after such a tragedy?

The agent has a lot to answer for. BBC reported a text where the pilot was to collect £270 in cash. That is minimum wage for a pilot. He was from Lincolnshire.

By the time of the flight being organized he was a Cardiff player, so any duty of care would attach to CCFC.
Most importantly their evidence that McKay organized the flight was tenuous and substantially based on conjecture. The Judge decided they didn't get anywhere near the threshold of required evidence. I had thought they had a good case, mainly because what they were saying about what they had, but as the case proceeded it became obvious that they had no documentary proof of their assertions and no witnesses. It was conjecture with very little meat on the bones.
Having failed to prove to a reasonable standard that McKay was involved in arranging the flight their argument for compensation fell apart. [Post edited 30 Mar 17:06]
