I know not everyone likes all the rule changes, but what a spectacle it has made the football.

I’m not a big fan of two points from a free, when being fouled in a position closer to goal gets you only one, but I can’t deny that it has made the game much more entertaining. It was being throttled by 15 behind the ball to the point of becoming unwatchable.
I really feared for them at half-time. Even though they were playing very well, even though they were so talented, even though they were working like dogs....you just figured that the more experienced team would end the game well.

About bloody time they won. Threw away a couple against the great Dublin side so fair play. Always good to see Kerry getting bet

That's absolutely my main bugbear too, Mr S, to me that doesn't make any sense to me. I think it needs to be two points only from open play.
But I was over to watch Meath play Monaghan two years ago, and the game is night and day different to the stodge I watched that day.

It would be more logical to offer a player fouled in the D the option to bring it outside for the chance of 2, but it would probably lead to even more diving.

It's a cracking game now.
There were times when only being involved in the sport was keeping me alive as a football supporter. I've gone from hating nearly every game I watched to loving nearly every game I watch.

Just to clarify, are you talking about Gaelic footall or, QPR following our win over the might of the Florentine Republic?
I'm a Dub but I was crying at the end of the match which I have just watched 'as live'.
Great performance and a day that will live long in the memory.
A great season all round and the changes made with the 2 pointers - I do agree that they should only be from open play - and the restructed All-Ireland series is Exhibit A in how a sport can break free from traditions and become a better sport.
This season - including the League - Ive enjoyed the Gaelic Football far more than I have soccer and thats nothing to do with how poor QPR have been.
If someone said to me that by 2030 I would have stopped watching soccer and only watched Gaelic Football I wouldn't be surprised.
Anyway, Mayo win Sam and I'm feeling happy and emotional for them.
For the first time in ages, i watched The Sunday Game tonight.
Ryan O'Donoghue deservedly their Player of the Year. To my mind, the best forward in Ireland, a clever and talented player who can play in any position, who can shape a game, was wisely used as a creator this year.
And, from talking to the Mayo cousins, is clearly the leader of that team.
But all The Sunday Game crew talked about was his tackling, not his vision, not his intelligence, not his craft.
He's from Mayo, so let's talk about his tackling.

Went to the game and I’ve never experienced an atmosphere like it. The roaring, Mayo nerves going 8-1 down, Kerry nerves going into half time 11-10, Flynn hitting the crossbar, too many moments to talk about.
Mayo fans around me in disbelief and tears. Kerry fans applauding the Mayo players and congratulating the Mayo supporters. There were no excuses or complaints about this match and Mayo were deserved winners. Jack Coynes speech was something out of a film it gave me goosebumps. What a day.
My family is Kerry and Mayo so either way I’d have been happy with the result but I won’t lie, my heart was for a Mayo win.

Slight shame Conroy did'nt have that same vision to return the pass to McDonald for an easy side foot into the goal for that last score,
That would have been the ending of all endings.
Brilliant to see the GAA in some great shape, just hope the Allianz row does'nt cause a long-term rift and Burns can do the right thing and quickly.

Without a doubt the 2 pointer has transformed the game. Plus the 3 players in the oppo half and being penalised for refusing to give up the ball after committing a foul. In two short years football is now more entertaining than hurling and I certainly didn’t see that coming. I do agree that 2 pointers should be from play only, although that could lead to a lot more fouling around the large diag as the defending team would be potentially ‘saving’ a point. No system is perfect but this is a massive improvement. Now if only Sligo could figure out how to actually win a game.

As I’m now single, I decided a few months back to have a week’s holiday in Achill. Got here yesterday afternoon to find that members of the Mayo team were due to bring Sam across the bridge into Achill a few hours later! So was here for their arrival, the procession, and even managed to get a photo with them while I lifted Sam!
An amazing evening. Even more amazing, I’ve spent this morning topping up my tan on Keel beach! It’s all bound to go south from here!!

I had a similar, but much more low key experience in 2022. The Kerry coach lives across the road from the nearest beach to our place. A couple of days after the final we were taking our dog for a walk and we looked round and saw his son having photos taken with Sam - there were only about ten other people on the whole beach. The word got around and when we left they were getting pictures with their babies sitting in Sam etc, but anyone passing on the road would have no idea. It was like going into Tesco Metro around the corner and bumping into someone carrying the FA Cup.
