He has a history of hamstring injuries. One very nasty one then decreasing seriousness afterwards. But a lot of playing time lost to injury.
A lot of research has gone into preventing hamstring injuries in sports, football especially, and there are different views on how best to do it, and how to cure an injury afterwards.

We have some very good players coming in , but I have to admit to having some sadness at local players, Parker, Congreve, Cullen and Cooper leaving .
It's always been good to see young players coming through eg Dan James Ben Davies etc coming through, doing well in the first team |

Congreve and Cooper, I don't think are up to the grade for a team wanting to push for championship promotion. Exactly.
Have seen a lot of people praising Cooper and Cullen for "giving their all", as if that's adequate compensation for actual ability. It seems far more acceptable with the fanbase to be substandard if you're local and run around a bit. It's a mindset that we need to move past.
Congreve I think has a bit more about him but has probably had his progress stunted by a lack of proper game time when he first broke through and a move makes sense for him. Belgium has been producing good technical players lately so hopefully he'll kick on there. Parker I expect to return and replace Lissah once we've sold him back to Chelsea for £25m. Fulton, Stamenic, Walta, Franco, Seck, Almeida & Widell for three DM/CM/AM slots. Interestingly, the club website lists both Yeo and Just as midfielders instead of attackers, which bumps it up to nine players for three positions.
For the wide roles, Eom, Inoussa, Ronald & Opoku. If we work on the assumption that Just and Yeo will mostly play wide, that's six for two positions, unless of course we do try the "three wingers up front" approach, in which case that actually looks OK.
I get squad depth, but in general it's not going to be easy keeping that many players happy. I'm fairly certain that we're going to see some outgoings before the window closes. [Post edited 4 Aug 17:33]

Primarily has played as a #10 last season, but has also played deeper and out wide. I agree there's a lot of options in attacking midfield and out wide, and it does seem like too many. | |

Listening to Matos’ extension interview, it’s clear we want to play high-aggression, pressing football. This side has so many rotations and pivots that it’s going to be very exciting. For the long slog of a Championship season, we now have more pace and muscle, with the added dimension of mixing up the attack. I’ve got a feeling that if we get this Valencia lad, it’ll be curtains for Jay Fulton. Watching Cooper and Cullen in pre-season, I thought this season might be sideways again, but the deadwood is being burned on the bonfire. Ronald is leaving if Coventry want him, he’ll be gone; I’ve also got a feeling Tymon might end up at Hull. As for keeping players happy, there’s plenty of football over the season, and as long as we’re winning, I bet the wage rises for promotion will be more than enough to keep them content. Matos is building a squad, and Snoop and co are creating a brand. We’ve had the best transfer window of the Welsh clubs—can’t imagine what a Cardiff fan feels looking at us and Wrexham, hahaha. | |
