About 5.00 pm today I was sat In the garden watching the birds feeding and using the bird boxes whilst having a quite cuppa In the sunshine perfect silence, peace and quite in the best Country in this whole goddam world.
I've been to a pile of countries In my life time from Bangladesh to Australia, from Libya to Cyprus various road trips to the USA, the point I'm making albeit badly Is this Country we live In Is the without doubt the best Country In the World, being sat on a plane for 12 odd hours and flying over Holland and seeing the Image of the UK appearing on the map Is a sight for sore eyes.
We went back to Cornwall last June where It rained at least once a day, we booked Seven nights and came home after Five of them. (LOL etcetera) |

We’re off this weekend up to Lochinver, Sutherland for four nights in a pod-thing. Magical part of the country.
The North Coast 500 has made it a lot busier which is hard on the infrastructure but also brings in a lot of local coin.

Just got back from a month Interrailing around Central Europe - Strasbourg, Munich, Prague, Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna, Bad Ischl, Salzburg and Paris. Lots to see and do, learned a lot I didn’t know - A few of this countries had, shall we say, a ‘forgettable’ 20th Century. | | | |

Me and my mate have just booked our joint 60th for next year, fly into Budapest, 4 nights there, train to Bratislava, 3 nights there then train to Vienna for a couple of nights before flying back from there.

Use the Guruwalks app for the free walking tours ( you pay the guide a 15/20 euro tip each). DId general main sight tours on the first day and the Second World War / Communism tours the next day. Brilliant but quite harrowing. Take the ferry from Bratislava to Vienna, it’s about 90 minutes but nicer scenery and much easier to get to ferry rather than the train station. Budapest centre is nice but very popular and can be expensive. Bratislava is tiny so depends what your plan is. Lots of places to sit around and drink etc, but Devin castle is nearby if you want a visit. | | | |

Koln is a decent stop on the way, and probably the quickest and cheapest.
You can also go overnight from Brussels now too.

Already done the big one this year, starting in Singapore and traveling up through Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia. Incredible part of the world.

Two weeks in Mauritius booked at start of July. It’s their ‘winter’ then but the temperature will be perfect. Went there in 2007. It is a beautiful island with lots to see. Hired a local speedboat with a couple of local lads both called ‘Vic’, to a little island off the south west coast of Mauritius where we were treated to a chicken and lobster BBQ and plenty of local rum. Out of nowhere came a guy selling trinkets who looked like Bob Marley and spoke like him (accent is the same creole French accent of the Caribbean), and whilst negotiating whilst half drunk an old boy also appears from nowhere with a guitar looking and sounding like Nelson Mandela and serenaded us with Sweet Caroline!!! Most surreal moment of my life. |
We’ve had a great time, leaving in a few hours, definitely recommended and great if you can see whole island.
And just to add, if you thought most ManU supporters lived in London, wrong - there are def more in Mauritius  | | | |

Bucket list trip to Vietnam for me but not till November. I have suddenly realised I am getting old and need to start doing these bucket list items before I kick it.
A wedding in Lisbon in September as well but I have already been there so it was quite selfish of them to have it there and not say Porto, I thought. |  |

This may be the Londoner in me, but i can't imagine me ever willingly going swimming in the sea where great whites are about. I did my PADI qualification on the great barrier reef in 1993 where there were black tipped reef sharks and I made sure I kept at least three other divers between me and them at all times, I'm a natural born coward. Off to Hope Cove in Devon too in a couple of weeks for my mother in laws 80th birthday. A hidden treasure. Just the seals and basking sharks to worry about there. |

Went to Nice in March for a long weekend. Overrated
Went to Modena 2 weeks ago to go to the Ferrari and Lamborghini museums. Fantastic.
Going to Madrid in 2 weeks for a long weekend. Looking forward to that.
Crete for a week in July. Can’t wait.
Vietnam in November for 2 weeks. Excited beyond.
Plus I travel a lot with work all over the place, this year so far it’s been Netherlands a few times, Atlanta for 2 weeks, Italy three times, Germany, Madrid again, France a few times.
