the trick of what we are doing is sell when the player is at his peak , second half of his first season was prob his peak to be honest, last season he regressed into the player who we brought in , have we missed the boat who knows next few weeks will be intresting thats for sure , see how we starts the season the swesish kid seems to be able to do all the thing we wanted varanne to do with easy , and yes its not great oppostion i know but he played very well alongside madson yesterday in the first half |

I can't believe people are wishing him well when players such as Frey and Polter got absolute pelters and were far more valuable to us.
He was pony.
BUT.....
Not every signing will be successful and two other strikers have done really well since then so there has to be a balance. |  |

The stroies at the time was the club was holding out for a bid closer to ten miliion which is why it was turned down
as for the varanne last summer was told by somebody last april that he would be amazed if he was still here last season , thats was before the game from somebody at the club at the time. |
That’s not the story I heard. I mean it’s all a story but I also thought the offer was last summer mot January and it was a loan to buy offer a bit like the Sheffield Utd one of Dunne where it would only be met if various improbable circumstances like them getting automatic promotion occurred. I think he’s right not accepting a loan to buy offer and if it wasn’t £5 million clear but contingency based I can see why we didn’t accept it given that he seemed to be improving at the time.
I haven’t heard anywhere that we were asking for £10 million and it doesn’t seem plausible to me.
And if a player wants to leave then start playing brilliantly and someone will buy you. Simples. |  | | |

I have to say that it feels like we have ruined many more players than we have nurtured recently. I doubt we sold Celar for much but that we are simply offloading his wages to a league where he’s known and because he needs game time this season, so I guess his salary may have dropped as the Swiss league probably won’t pay as much and he hardly played in Germany.
Madsen may be worth more than we paid given his turn around on one of two seasons but he’s going need to play like that again this season to realise a decent profit because he wasn’t cheap and first season he didn’t really turn up.
No one has money up front in France since the TV deal went south so Varane won’t be going unless he does a Madsen this season and redeems himself.
If Kone and Burrell stay fit and score goals again, I dare say we’d sell them for a profit, but keeping them both on the grass may be a challenge. If Burrell has lost that yard of pace or worries about his Hammy he’s done - à la Willock.
That really leaves Kone who has the most potential as a durable player and I’m surprised no one has made a speculative offer yet.
It’s hardly a conveyor belt…..and we really need try and improve the overall performances to get anyone noticed. I’d settle for some consistency this season but we are gong to need to balance the books at some stage too. |  |

Again some posters being very harsh about him.
Maybe he was similar to Madsen in taking time to adapt to a new country, new league, new place of work, new boss. It doesn't happen overnight. Scored two great goals against Cardiff and looked like he was turning a corner, then was very unlucky to get a serious injury.
I'm not saying he was likely to be a QPR legend, maybe it was never going to happen for him here. But some of our fans just look at the player on the pitch and don't think about the human being off it, and what they might be going through. |

just think Swansea signed his Slovakian team-mate Vipotnik in the same transfer window for less than half the price that we paid for Celar.
Vipotnik scored 23 championship goals for Swansea last season.

I read they got him for free as his club, Bordeax went bust or something similar.
Truth is I don't really care how much the fee is from Basle or whether if is enough to pay off his contract etc, what matters most us he is out of the club and no more time or money is wasted on him.
He wasn't the right fit for the club, because he played as part of a front 2 at Lugano and Cifuentes preferred just 1 striker in his life up. I recall watching Celar as a lone striker for QPR and struggling to win headers, hold the ball up or even press the ball. All of those are usually done by a lone striker.
Hopefully, QPR have negotiated a % of any sell on fee just in case Celar rediscovers how to score goals and Basle receive decent bids to buy him. [Post edited 18 Jul 7:41]
