Using the Loan Market more than last season and Effectively also 14:08 - Jul 22 with 2754 viewsnumptydumpty

Basically last season we only had RND on loan and this was done as a last resort due to Larkeche picking up a season ending injury.

Then other seasons, we have loaned in four or five, but the calibre was poor.

Think getting Walsh out on loan, probably with the hope to improve his transfer fee next season. Securing Ward and then Pierce to get game time whilst Ward could improve for next season is solid business.

Taking players from the Prem on loan is likely to improve the quality of the squad for this season and basically loan out those who need more experience to league one or to improve their sale price.

So for me loans out still to do

Esquerdinha
Larkeche
Morgan

And if we can get another prem loan left back, and centre mid on loan could work.

ie It may be difficult to afford the quality we need by purchasing and then next season the returnees wil either have been sold for more money or improved so much that we can consider them for our squad the following season.

And by using this system, we can reach the promised land of the playoffs, this season potentially

Am very excited by the loan signing of Charles and surely thats done with this way of trading in mind. ie its within our budgets and abilities to field our best quality squad possible.

How do others feel ??

I agree broadly, but it has to be done in a way where we don't just end up improving another team's players rather than our own. We have to be careful with that.

Also with loan fees climbing higher and higher we have to be careful not to be spending money rather than investing it.

Well yes indeed

But if our players to improve need lower league match ups to improve or fatten up their sale price, yes we should sign on permanent deals as much as possible, but to keep within FFP, surely loaning in from prem and the right sort would be a lot cheaper and possibly a greater hit rate than many from abroad who we buy and then they don't adjust either to living here or the physicality of the championship.

And some bought from lower leagues or abroad ultimately cost us more due to long contracts and wage bills. And our hit rate is better than previous but still consistently low unfortunately. ie the likes of Esquerdinha, an obsession with young but very raw Australians or the likes of Celar, Santos who just dont achieve anything at all other than a hit to the finances in the short term and the long term.

We still need to give ourselves the very best chances of success in the present days ahead, as opposed to always thinking about the future.

Personally believe this is a better way of trading for us to be a successful in the imminent season ahead and more financially stable for the future in the long term also and also keeping within FFP limits.

If Pierce Charles means our goals conceded, improves by more than 15 goals compared to Walsh last season then potentially those kind of figures alone could have us in contention for a play off spot and if they achieve that for me thats job done. ie we would not have created that scenario in the present. And we can still increase our own players value, but have better players for the present to achieve right now. Yes it would help the club loaning players to us, but it helps us also.

And its better to not loan from competitors in our league but from above or elsewhere. Thats the point i was making.

And i only mean perhaps three or four maximum via this way brought in as season long loans - the limit is five currently, I believe.

The balance is the key though, of course. Totally agree.

I've said this before, but Morgan has made 40 appearances, he's past the point of a loan. He either consolidates a place in the team or moves on.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Premier League loans are difficult to get good ones. You either get the older Jeff Hendricks types who just muck about, or younger Harrison Ashby types who find the step up from academy football too tough. But you could land a Ronny Edwards in there, but more often than not loaning from up above turns out sour.

Didn't Mick Beale bring in three Prem players at once from the Prem?

Tyler Roberts
Taylor Richards
Ethan Laird

They all went on to have stellar careers

IF we're going to loan anybody in, they have to be a big uplift on what we already have. OK with Charles but where does that leave Ward? We've just signed Kemper. Are we really going to loan in a PL.level LB, who the loaning side will, presumably, expect regular game time?
Has Alameyhu jumped ahead of Morgan? If so, sending Morgan to an L1 club on.loan has some benefits.
Otherwise, unless we get injuries before end of August (Obikwu, anybody) then I'm not sure any loans would help.

Yes that might be best but if we dont get any money for them, isnt it better to loan with an obligation to buy at a price and we potentially could put clauses in so if they improve dramatically then we get them back either to sell on or if improvement that good, then we dont lose out also.

I agree some are better to be sold but there may not be any takers currently bit potentially better scenarios arise for us after a loan.

Thats where the due diligence comes in regards a loan signing

The Mick Beale loans in were under his guidance as far as i was aware and he has shown his abilities to determine the right sorts. ie the hoodwinker was hoodwinked.

I have a lot more faith in our recruitment team today than as it was at that time

I’d expect them to be gone in the next couple of weeks.
Sadly not good enough for this level.
They may prove me wrong . I wish them well .

Personally, I think the Mick Beale loans are the epitome of a average Prem loan.

When it was all going well, they looked like World beaters, as soon as something became difficult we saw players sitting on the grass, tying shoelaces, not feeling 100% up for it.
Niggly injuries etc...

The loans I like are players at the end of a contract hungry to prove something.

Last season RND managed to prove he could play most of a season after a lot of injuries, which worked well for him. Still an average Champ footballer though, presumably on a high Champ wage, so not much use as a perm signing there.

I think the recruitment has been better, arguably last season the success rate was above par
