Ive not been to too many places but liked North Coast of Spain just after the summer, weather, pace of life and food just seemed so good. Edinburgh for a big town, but that's probably football biased, and we do like a visit to London as there's something different to do every time. Edit Wexford in Ireland was a great trip, went for work purposes and met really friendly people. True salt of the earth people, perhaps got lucky but seemed to be everyone we met [Post edited 25 Apr 2020 18:18]

I enjoyed Perth and Fremantle when I went there for the cricket 2 1/2 years ago.Its so much more laid back than places on the east coast. The special paint job down Fremantle Main Street is pretty good too. I also like the Algarve in Portugal. In the uk I guess Cornwall is very nice, but too crowded in the summer. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Kingo - for what it’s worth, we as a family spent every summer holiday in Crete. My Dad refused to go back home to Cyprus after 1974 - and by enormous good luck found Ayios Nikoloas. We met friends in the hotel we were in and they asked my mum and dad to be godparents to the child they were expecting. My parents spent 30 years there whenever the chance of a holiday came up. My Dad returned every November to press the grapes, make raki and be a 75 year old Boy Scout.

We’ve been about 4 or 5 times.Normally to a villa off the beaten track. We stopped at one just outside Louie and it took about 3 hours to find it.Well worth the journey though.I haven’t been able to find it on any holiday site since but I’d love to go back one day. It was so secluded that we didn’t bother with swimming costumes all week, until the day that I locked us out of the villa and had to call the caretaker to let us back in. Lucky the kids went to pakefield with my in-laws instead.

Yes mate.It normally takes about 20 mins driving to get used to driving on the wrong side of the road, but the roads are so much better than when my mate and me went in April 89. We flew out after the Wimbledon home game on the day of the Hillsborough disaster,so we didn’t find out too much about it until we got home a week later. It’s a place my Mrs and me want to retire to in a few years time.At least for 6 months of the year anyway.

Mississippi; Been a couple of times because of the music/blues and Highway 61 managed to spend time to stand in peace and quite by the river, went to Clarksville (home of the blues)and stood in John Lee Hooker Street to pay my respect's, sadly witnessed segregation still alive and kicking. Louisiana; New Orleans, great city but dangerous, Music is fantastic though, road tripped from there North to Memphis. Texas; Just absolutely massive and full of Rednecks and Mexicans pretending to be Rednecks, they also have Women who have the fattest arse's In America, stopped at a diner and had two home made burgers that were fecking gorgeous, Texans know how to eat! Austin Texas is fantastic for live music, (Sixth Street). New York, stopped there a fair few times but couldn't really deal with being there for more than two nights, I always visited Strawberry Fields. (J Lennon). Australia; Stopped in Freemantle, okay I suppose but Perth was spotless and well organised (trains/buses etcetera were always clean and tidy and on time). Wasn't disappointed to get back to England. Bangladesh; stopped in Dhaka with me brother on the way to Nepal to 'crash out' with the Hippies, never made it into Nepal as the pilot couldn't land the plane as we got hit by a tropical storm on the way in, I have never witnessed such poverty as I did in Dhaka, It is an eye opener of epic proportions, that said the Muslim 'call to prayers' sound is haunting in itself. The only good thing about the Journey to Bangladesh was seeing the sunrise behind Mount Everest from a Boeing 777. Norway; You want scenery and nice people who speak English then off you go. Greece; Beautiful scenery and quiet beaches if you know where to look. Cyprus; see Greece. Madeira; Lovely Island for walking and weather/climate. If you don't like flying though give it a swerve or you'll shit yourself when coming into land or taking off. County Mayo; Go and climb Croagh Patrick you bloody Catholics, I've done it twice and it nearly done me twice. (Wife's family are all Mayo and quite mad). Just about my favourite place is around the hills of Assisi in Umbria, must have been there over 10 times, could never put into words the beauty of the place and the peace and quite, unlike my Missus, i'm in no way religious but I've spent countless hours in the Basilica of Saint Francis and surrounding RC churches just taking it and the history all in, the fact that I'm not religious meant nothing to me, I loved it and the Italian way of life.

Nice to hear you say that about Wexford. Both of my parents were born in Wexford Town in the 30s. Came to London in the 50s. They then went back to Rosslare in 1989. Both dead now. I spent many a holiday with my grandmother when I was a kid and visiting my parents later. I was in Wexford as a five year old in July 1963 when JFK visited. Had a great view from the upstairs window of my grandmothers, who lived on Crescent Quay. Still got plenty of cousins there.

Favourite country - too many, but possibly Denmark, spent quarter of my career their, kids were born there and it is basically a great place to live. Close second would be Slovenia. Just so much in one small country, adriatic coast and italian food. Alps, lakes, mountains, forests, beaches. Pretty capital and easily accessible. It is the place I always go if I need to chill and just sit back and watch the world go by. Love Hong Kong too, amazing food, great people and city that literally never stops. Singapore is great as well, but doesnt quite have the insanity and buzz of HK, sort of a sensible grown up version. In the UK, love the West Country, family used to visit Dorset, Devon and Cornwall every year when I was young and always remember beautiful places (with awful traffic).
