They totally humiliated our flag at the friendly at LR. Showed us no respect.

I did admire their fans and the noise they made but think quite a lot German 'ultras' exercise their guttural chanting in a similar way.

Having said that I do have a soft spot for them due to the Polter, Leistner connection.

Scottish mate of mine goes regularly and he's never mentioned anything. Mel probably knows better. I think it's mostly flag waving and community work.

Having been to Berlin a couple of times recently (Mrs half German and she has relatives there) I find myself looking out for both teams results! Had tickets to see Hertha V Werder Bremen last year but her mum had to have an operation and we ended up cancelling.

They play in Blue and White Hoops, they're pretty crap(mainly play in Bundesliga 2,currently in Bundesliga 3) but with a hardcore of loyal fans. There's only one choice -MSV Duisburg!

I was in Berlin for a stag weekend a few year ago (same weekend that Wigan beat Man City in the FA Cup final)

The next day we went to watch Union Berlin against Duisburg. I was supporting the home team, it was a bit weird to not be supporting the team in blue and white hoops. Got more and more confusing with each beer!

Nope, never heard of him I'm afraid. I don't recall him playing for our under 18s in the last decade. May have played for a younger age group and as they don't produce teamsheets for ages below under 18s the name would have escaped me.

Find all the flag waving and flares you get with these ultra groups really embarrassing and hope it never catches on in England. It's not impressive, it's not scary and the politics just does my head in.

Best thing I ever saw from fans was Millwall at our place a few seasons ago getting a last minute equaliser. Was sitting the x-block right by them. The noise from the celebration was unbelievable.

To be honest I have found the St Pauli love in a bit of a myth.
Sure there were good intentions to start with, but they have long since gone out of the window, and to be honest I'd rather not mix my football with my politics. When in Hamburg I follow HSV.
Union are the new Uber cool club in Germany which brings its own problems. Getting home tickets for one. There are plans to make the Stadion An Der Alten Forsterei from 23 to 35000 soon, which is a long way from the lower league ground it was a dozen years ago.
As for Hertha, they're shi t. They really should be bigger and better having one of the great world stadiums but they are not, and long may it stay that way.
