Indeed.

Upon reflection, was the holiday to Barbados a fantastic send off for him or the beginning of the end?

Either way, a gentlemen and should rightfully take his place as one of the best things to happen to this country over the last 12-months.

RIP Sir.

Really sad news, he was a truly inspirational person for young and old.

I hope he didn’t suffer, he didn’t deserve that.

Very sad to hear that. I was standing outside Bedford hospital earlier and had no idea what was occurring inside until I saw the news on Sky.

Rip Captain.

What an amazing last year he spent. Knighted by Her Maj, spitfire flypast for his birthday which brought a tear to my eye, #1 in the charts with ynwa on top of raising nearly £40m for the NHS.

Inspirational to both young and old alike, Godspeed old chap.

A truely remarkable man. Like thousands of other heroes, he answered his countries call when it desperately needed him. 75 years later he came out of retirement to help his country again. A real life national hero. RIP captain Tom. Time to stand down. Your country salutes you.

All the above post cant really be trumped just like to add that the man was a symbol of light in this dark year and not sad to say that watching the news tonight my wife and I both shed a tear
The man encapsulated every thing that is good in our country a wonderful life and what a last year he must have had.
The only sad thing is that with perhaps an end in sight he will not be able to celebrate with the rest of us
A true legend of a man

Not to take anything away from CT but what it really showed was how powerful and the good that the MSM can do hyping a story up and running with it.

There have been many others that have done more but not had the MSM.

MSM could do a lot more.

Not sure that's the point here mate, the press is generally trash we all know that.
RIP Tom, a great deed done when your country need you most. Congrats and thanks.

Every year at the Great North Run Brendan Foster talks on TV about it being "ordinary people doing extraordinary things"

Think Captain Sir Tom is one of the ultimate embodiments of that.

Rest in peace sir, some lovely words from others above.

His family must be so proud of all he has done in his lifetime.

He embodied what is good about our great nation and the generation that sacrificed so much so that we could live our lives in freedom.
