I remember the day well Man City had that red & black chequerboard style shirt The loftus road tramp trying to clamber over onto the pitch was hilarious The pa announcer telling those on the pitch that they wasn’t fans of the club and to get off A fella who got on the pitch twice being nicked and getting a standing ovation as he kissed the badge on his scarf It was also a terrible game of football which we sneaked 1-0
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

I also went to the meeting at Hammersmith town hall the following week, Jimmy Hill, Malcom McDonald and Brendon Batson were amongst the speakers, there were hundreds of Rangers and Fulham fans there but stood next to me was a Charlton fan who had turned up to heckle Jimmy Hill, every time Jimmy spoke this bloke would shout out “what about Charlton” apparently Jimmy Hill was partly responsible for their demise and moving out the valley.
A few familiar faces (Pic bottom left) and especially Rangers colleague at the time Terry With the policeman. Also in the pic the dear man Trevor Kingham and recollect fond memories of his great company.
I do remember that game going up to Gary Bannister who literally froze as I approached. Naively I said to him we needed Venables back to which he replied ‘you can say that again’ I didn’t.

I was on the pitch too but sadly didn't make the photo.
My memory before the game is thinking how strangely quiet it was, with the lack of protesting given everything that had been going on. Then as the teams were about to come out the pitch invasion happened.
Was a long time ago but is my memory right that the away fans were quite supportive, at least initially?
