I was on it 5 years ago. My subject was Hans Christian Anderson. Bring a Rangers fan, I obviously enjoy fairy stories! Picking a subject isn’t straight forward as the producers have to agree it and my original choices were turned down which were the Beatles and QPR of course. That’s because they had both been special subjects recently. I can remember when it was Rangers. In my programme ( won by Isabel who had been on multiple times and was the series champion) one guy did Ipswich Town. I was second with 22 points. Might have another try now that Clive Myries on.

There was a contestant on mastermind a few years back who chose Rangers as his specialist subject. From memory he didn't do very well as i remember getting more right than he did.

I got 13 (the answer to #8 just wouldn't come to me)

1. Which player scored 44 goals for QPR during the 66-67 season when they won the 3rd division and the league cup?

2. Who managed Rangers during the 79-80 season? He'd previously been in charge for 28 days in 68.

3. Rangers qualified for their first European campaign in 76, to which team did they lose in the quarter-finals of the UEFA cup?

4. In 1975 who became the first Rangers player to captain England when he lead the team in a 2-1 win over Switzerland?

5. Against which team did Rangers play their first league game on their newly installed plastic pitch at Loftus Road in 1981?

6. Which centre-back is Ranger's most capped player? He'd made nearly 500 appearances for the club between 81 and 97 and won 52 caps for Northern-Ireland.

7. Which team did Rangers beat 3-2 on aggregate over two legs in the semi-final of the 86 league cup?

8. What is the name of the Indian billionaire who was persuaded by the co-owner Bernie Ecclestone to invest in the club together with his brother-in-law Amit Bhatia in 2007?

9. Which striker scored a hat-trick in a 4-1 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford on New Year's Day 1992?

10. Rangers reached their only FA cup final in 82. Who scored the equaliser deep into extra time in the 1-1 draw with Spurs which lead to a replay.

11. Which player who later became a professional golfer became Ranger's first £1m signing when he was bought by manager Don Howe in 1989 from Luton Town?

12. To which non-league side did Rangers lose on penalties in the first round of the 2002-3 FA cup?

13. Rangers clinched promotion back to the Premier League in the end of the 2013-14 season by beating Derby County in the playoff final. In what position did they finish in the Championship to reach the playoffs?

14. Which World Cup winning player appeared in eight league matches for Rangers in the 88-89 season?

I'd go history too, probably something niche - Alfred the Great, Charles the Bold, the Viking Age in the Isle of Man. Could've dome the Battle of Waterloo as a kid but I've forgotten most of it now; ditto the history of the 57th Foot/Middlesex Regt, which was drummed into me by my dad.

True story - grandad of my daughter's best friend lost in the final. In one of the general knowledge rounds he was asked 'What is the capital of Mongolia?" and said "Inner or Outer?" So they stopped filming, put him in a secure room for a bit, then brought him back and said, "Right, we're going to resume and ask you again."

Magnus Magnusson says "What is the capital of Mongolia? And I will accept either Inner or Outer Mongolia"

I remember that so well. As I recall, they broadcast it exactly how he said it initially - I laughed so much! I was subsequently on a Radio quiz on a Pacific Island and gave a similar answer to a question to which I didn't know the answer!

Spoiler alert! At the risk of proving myselff a know-nothing, I'll have a go off the top of my head:
