Big fan of Dykes but he was a bit slow to get his shot away with the chance vs Forest and last night’s opportunity. Maybe I’m being harsh but I think that if he takes the shot sooner then it’s a goal on both occasions. Edit. Having rewatched the replay from his chance last night, I take that back. It was a good block and Dykes got his shot away early. But I still think he was a bit slow to shoot against Forest. [Post edited 4 Nov 2021 7:43]

Didn’t think quite the same as Forest block, quicker onto the shot and that half second means the defender doesn’t get there in time. Because of that I spent the last ten minutes heading balls clear from my settee so I’m knackered this morning.

Think you need to take it back for Saturday’s one too. That came moments after he got injured, so was almost on one leg. Had he not been injured he would have got that shot off quicker and got to the ball quicker!

Fair point! Hadn’t taken his injury into consideration and he’s normally good at getting his shots away quickly so that probably explains it. Shame his shot didn’t go in last night as the chested assist from Austin was top class. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Gray obviously appreciated the quality of the ball in to him too because if you watch the goal celebrations on the offy you can see Andre Gray turn around and start looking for Dozzell and then clearly says to him "that was F..kin' brilliant" or something to that effect. Good goal, good clean sheet, back up to 5th on merit and sitting pretty in November. We are where we should be based on the realistic aspirations from the start of the season, we are not the finished article but moving upwards nicely.

It was a brilliant block by the Cardiff defender to be fair. Fine margins though, Dunne tries to do something similar v Forest and ends up diverting the ball out of Dieng's reach. The Cardiff defender just threw himself at it, it could have gone anywhere.

Yeah that was a brilliant block by the Cardiff defender. Seen it a few times and he arrives out of nowhere or that is going straight in.

I was right behind it, in the away end. Going well wide unfortunately.

100% correct. Ignore anything in the press on this. Dykes' shot was definitely going wide and everyone in the away end had a perfect view of it - well, those actually watching the game. Clive states that in his report as well To the poster who said it was a nice chest down, the cross from Moses was even better, under pressure and right on the money.
