Was there a week before my 10th birthday. In the open end to the left. Phil Boyer was offside for their second or third goal, ain’t going to watch the video. Stunning goal by DT though.

loft boys in fine voice, worth a watch just for the old songs.
How typical. 3 utterly preventable goals. Complete mess at the back for the first, Parkes could have easily caught the ball in that led to the second (great strike tbf) and the third looked well offside. Not to mention their guy that should have been red carded not even getting booked (different times I guess).
My mate is a Norwich fan and was there that day. We’re there any Rangers fans in the home ends. He says no. Also was it pay on the day. Heard the result while waiting for the bus after playing 5-a-side at Harrow leisure Centre. Just told the wife about that time in history. Sucks big time.
Sought of interesting, shirt made by Umbro and the back staff on the bench decked out in Gola.

I was there on that dreadful day, thousands of our fans totally gutted & I’ve hated Norwich since, that geezer should’ve been sent off & that offside goal, haven’t seen that video for ages & infact didn’t want to

Good q re pay on the day. I think it was a ticket match, but time has faded the memories. Do remember clanking along somewhere in East Anglia beside a main road and noticing a load of cars with blue and white scarves flying out of the windows. Don't recall any Rangers being in their end. We stood right beside 'em in a pen that would be a sharp right from the tv camera, so basically out of shot for most of the game.
If the game had been a draw we’d have ended up level on points with Liverpool at the end of the season.
How would the title have then been decided? (apart from alphabetically, knowing the FL)
They finished up with a goal average of 2.129 and we finished at 2.030,but even if we’d drawn at naarwich rather than lost we would’ve ended up level on points but with a goal average of 2.09375,so they would’ve still won.Even if they’d only beaten wolves 2-1 instead of 3-1 their GA would’ve been 2.09677.A lot closer, but still enough to beat us overall. They would’ve won if it was GD or if it was 3 points for a win.If it was decided on GD and we’d drawn at naarwich we would’ve both finished with +35 and we scored 67 to their 66,so the title might’ve been ours after all.And we would’ve finished 1 point above them if it was 3 points for a win and we’d drawn at naarwich.84pts to their 83. I heard the refs name was keith Styles. It wasn’t his son Rob who screwed us over 23 years later was it? We threw away our chances by losing to them Norfolk b@stards,or by only drawing 0-0 with relegated Sheffield Utd earlier in the season.

..and just to emphasise, it was ONLY these two games that cost us because our run in at the end of that season was W13 D1 L1, incredible!

What a flow that side had to its football, wonderful memories aside of this defeat.
Can’t help wondering if or how it would have changed the club if we’d gone on to win the League. For Peter Eastoe to be the ‘marque signing’ at that stage wasn’t a good look.

I was there, having made the cross country trip from Liverpool, where I lived at the time. I have no intention of watching the video, as it would open a wound that has still not healed, and probably never will. I dare say that many others who were there will feel the same.

Our home record was phenomenal that season so drawing at home to Villa probably didn't help either. Their away record was woeful (only team in the division not to win an away game that season).
As it was before my time I guess the Norwich result doesn't hurt me as much as others but it's always fascinating how in general everyone looks at the last game of the season as being the pivotal moment to their season (at either end). Every team will have had other results in the season that 'should' have been better so it wouldn't have then been a problem come the last game.

As someone answered, it would have been by goal average.
Interestingly, IF we had drawn 0-0 we would have been favourites to win the title, 1-1 & Liverpool would have needed two good scorelines against Manchester City & Wolves, 2-2 or 3-3 we could forget the title. Even a 1-0 defeat instead of 3-2 would have been better for us.!
For a while it was a possibility that we would end the season level on points, level on goals scored & goals against, plus also both clubs winning 2-0 against the other. I understood that the FL approached Wembley to see if they would host a play off if it was needed. The score from Norwich & City laying down against Liverpool made that redundant.

Firstly, it was pay on the day & not all ticket. You would have struggled to get in if not at the ground by 2.00pm though. I nearly stayed too long in a pub called the Pickwick & came close to not gaining entry.
There were hundreds of Rangers fans all round the ground, but I doubt that any would have been in the home area of the Barclays stand. This was roughly split 50/50 betweeen fans. Not all Rangers fans wanted to stand in the away area & they were jotted around the seats & The Riverside end.

Some nice football from both teams.
On the red cards, watching the Big Match revisited, you really had to murder someone to get booked or sent off (No actual cards then)
Just watched our cup tie v West Ham from 1975 and a West Ham player practically assaulted the referee - grabbed him by both shoulders and...................... only got booked!
Players happy to take and receive some pretty wild challenges.
Different times as you say.
