Great performance 21:48 - Oct 4 with 1716 viewswelwynranger

I thought they controlled the game from start to finish..
Superb defending and counter attacking.
They never seemed to panic at any time..
Great goal from Willy.
Sheff were resorting to the long ball out of desperation never really looked a threat

So well organised. They know what they're doing, and have some bite and desire too. Well done the team and the manager. Great result.

We looked comfortable with the crosses going in. Great effort from all. Johansen held back and fresh for Friday. Tim can start as well.

Maybe Dunne and JCS for Friday.

Just hope Willock is ok.

Smells like a trout farm in here

Yes, the Willock situation is the only blot on the landscape.

I wouldn't say we were in control. It was more that we did a lot of work when we didn't have the ball (which was a lot of the game).

It can't just be coincidence that Balogun as changed that defence.
I was on here and was not overly impressed but how wrong was I

Op must have been watching a different game.
Sheff Utd 65% possession
21-10 shots
9-3 corners

Great save by Senny. Rode our luck at times. Good defensive fighting performance.

Disagree with the OP , I thought we paid them to much respect in the 1st half and sat to deep
2nd half Beale seemed to push the fullbacks further forward and we looked much better
Throughly deserved win , I’m just glad the Dykes miss didn’t come and bite us on the Rrrss

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

yep, but having said that, that was clearly a tactical choice by beale in the second half after we scored

we effectively went from a front line of ball retainers in chair, willock and roberts to a front line of dykes and adomah with an extra centre back..

we were never going to keep loads of the ball after that ... it seemed like the point was to absorb pressure and the backline was immense- balogun, in particular with his repeat diving clearance headers, and paal, who was in the wingers head by the end

on the plus side, roberts and chair should have gotten sufficient rest to be available on friday

What a result that was but for me more about the performance, we were superb.

They were the better side first half but we always posed a threat and were so well organised at the back, it was really only long range shots all night. Second half we stepped up as an attacking unit and even after scoring created some good chances. Roberts really should have killed the game off with the one hew missed.

So many outstanding performances. Chair so good on the ball all night. Field was immense in midfield as was Amos and Dozzell both worlds away from the lightweight players they were when they first joined. Credit has to go to Beale for the turnaround in Dozzell, he's improved so much off the ball this season. The back 4 were all brilliant, Paal looks an outstanding signing and Beale did a great job switching to a back 3, we looked impossible to break down second half, so well drilled

The Willock injury is a blow and it looked a bad one but this team feels like it has a bit more about it than last season, As good as we were at times under Warbs last year, rarely did we control games as we have in recent weeks.

A very long way to go but this is a very exciting team we have

They had six or seven shots in the box in the first half and were the better team in that half, I thought. That's not to say we were poor, as we were dangerous too, but I thought they were better again.

I thought we dominated the third quarter before retreating to hold what we had for the fourth quarter.

Admirable performance, but I think 'great' would be pushing it.

No was watching the same game.
Just saw it differently high possession figures don't mean much as long as its not in our penalty box which it wasn't.
21 shots ?. How many on target troubling Semy .
I can only remember one save he had to make.

Great result, and to be honest, I expected a top of the table team playing at home to have more possession and shots and that is how it played out. It was a great defensive performance but I would have found it easier to relax if Dykes and Roberts hadn't mucked up the double chance.

Willock could be a big loss as his goals so far have contributed greatly to our points tally. At present he is the best player and best goalscorer in the team.

I'd agree with most of that Brian, but that was as good a defensive performance as I can remember us putting in for many years, the whole game through. A proper desire not to let go of what we'd earned.

I'm with Welwyn on this one and thought after a poor first 10 minutes we dominated the next 20 minutes, scrappy up to HT then us for 3rd quarter and saw the game out well bar for a sloppy 5 minutes where Clarke Salter (and Laird for once) we're a little too casual.

They were very Millwall like in their tactics and key was Paal not letting his man get in behind him was key as Dunne + Balogun looked comfortable under their long diagonals.

Good formation change by Beale + good subs at the right time, all credit to him.
