Ronaldo’s been completely unprofessional this season- publicly trying to force a move over the summer, leaving games early, refusing to come on as a sub, pretending to be ill ahead of the World Cup to avoid getting injured, publicly confirming that he has no respect for the manager etc.
I’d say Man Utd fans have every right to be more than disillusioned with him given his behaviour on and off the pitch. Irrespective of whether he’s right about the owners and the club, that’s not a professional way to behave and it’s not the first time he’s forced his way out of the club. And no player is bigger than a football club.
Where will he end up next? Well none of the major clubs wanted him over the summer and I doubt his stock has gone up given his performances on (2 goals in 16 odd games) and off the pitch this season. Maybe MLS or the middle east? |  | | |

The problem he'll have now is finding someone willing to pay him £500k a week knowing at this stage in his career, he completely believes he is above everyone else in the game. Middle East feels like the only place he'll get silly money. I'm not sure any coach at any top club would take a risk on squad harmony given his comments. |  |

The last two games before the World Cup he made himself unavailable for selection due to illness. But he was with the Portugal squad soon after the Fulham game. It’s obvious what he was up to but unsurprising given that he refused to come off the bench earlier in the season.
Put it this way, would you accept a QPR player refusing to play and publicly criticising the manager?

Basically they don't think he's as good as he used to be so the club and the fans are happy to bin him off but he wants to play. the refusing to come on he had a point about, they wanted him to come on when 2-0 up with 3 minutes to go, he saw it as an insult.

I still don’t understand how being paid £500k per week and asked to play the last few mins of a game is an insult. His form has been very poor this season so he can hardly expect to be starting every week and he’s been given plenty of opportunities.
And the club didn’t stop him leaving during the summer. None of the big clubs capable of paying his wages wanted him. Quite a big difference.
Compare this with Messi who is quietly having one of his best seasons in years for both club and country after being forced to leave the club he loved. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how Ronaldo and Messi perform at the World Cup. | | | |
