Who's cooking today. on 13:52 - Dec 25 with 2489 views | Hayesender | We've got turkey, lamb, and gammon. I'm not a bad cook, but I think I'd explode if I tried to cook a Christmas dinner for eight people. I'm just gonna hide in the corner quietly drinking till its ready. Have a great day all

Who's cooking today. on 14:11 - Dec 25 with 2437 views | Sonofpugwash | Yes,like every year. Turkey so vast the only way to cook it is to burn the house down around it. Took over the family duties in 1989 when my mum died. Her turkey gravy was so bad the headhunters would come all the way from the Amazon jungle to dip their darts in it.

That’s a coincidence……… my missus currently doing her nut over a roast For my sins – we had a new kitchen oven fitted 6 years ago I’ve never turned it on, no idea how it works. The missus does get some superb stuff out of it though

Who's cooking today. on 14:22 - Dec 25 with 2425 views | Boston | Mrs Boston always cooks the 'big meals'..except for last Christmas when she had a nasty dose of the Covid and I was the 'chef de jour'. Anyway, it went well, which I think actually pissed off Mrs B who rather likes to make a performance out of the whole process, I tend to be slightly more workmanlike in the kitchen. Menu...Traditional. Turkey (breast only today), Stuffing & Cranberry Sauce Ham (glazed) Roast Potatoes Mashed Carrot and Parsnips Brussel Spouts Apple Pie Trifle(unfortunately). Prosecco Red or White Wine Maybe a few beers in the evening, depends, might be all done with alcohol by then and walking the dog when I'm pissed is a bit of an ordeal.

Bought my mother a microwave about 25 years ago. Explained its working and how much time it would save her...she used it as a bread bin.

Who's cooking today. on 14:48 - Dec 25 with 2391 views | E17hoop | Just finished a homemade tomato and roasted pepper soup, turkey crown, venison loin, roast pots, homemade Yorkshire puddings, pigs in blankets, stuffing, carrots, peas, Brussels sprouts, homemade gravy . Cooked it all by myself for 6, as I do every year.

Who's cooking today. on 15:23 - Dec 25 with 2335 views | Wilkinswatercarrier | Just finished eating roast shoulder of pork with stuffing and the trimmings. I cooked for 6 of us. I did, however, forget to cook the pigs in blanket. Major mistake!
Who's cooking today. on 15:26 - Dec 25 with 2328 views | Juzzie | Me, I’m cooking turkey, roast potatoes, yorkshire pud, pigs in blankets, peas, veg, gravy etc. Thing is, I’ll end up easting most of it! Kids will have some, mrs juzzie and the mum in law don’t really like it so will probably just have some of the meat and that’s it. So, all mine. Oh dear, how sad, never mind. Merry Christmas everyone.
Who's cooking today. on 15:55 - Dec 25 with 2286 views | DWQPR | Sitting down totally bloated. Just me and my 13 year old lad today. Still couldn’t resist getting a 6kg Turkey. Was in the oven by 7 this morning and out by 11. Sausage meat stuffing, pigs in blankets, roasties (Albert Bartlett, none of that Maris Piper rubbish), parsnips, sprouts, peas, carrots and runners. Accompanied with cranberry sauce and fresh Turkey gravy. A glass of Shiraz 🷠for me and a 0% Guinness for Laddo. Got him a dartboard with a stand, mat and board surround. Having a real nice day. Xmas pud is steaming away at the moment so will find a bit of room to have a decent slice with a load of double cream. Had one cracker to share between us, from Hotel Chocolate, was a proper tug of war over the table! Merry Xmas all!

Turnip and grilled onion. A new dish on me. But the south, if it is from the south, has a wide range of meals not widely eaten t'up north. Must look it up.

Thanks Boston but its way simpler that that. Looks like its proper title is Irish Rutabagas/ turnips with Carmelized onions. Just simply chop up an onion and cook or fry in olive oil until its golden brownor carmelized / blackish. Peel chop and boil the turnip in salt water ,then drain and mash with butter salt and pepper. Stir in the onions mix well and serve Enjoy

Boil the water, add the sprouts to boiling well salted water, bring back to boil and cook for 6 minutes on a good boil. Drain well, add back to the pan and grind over bl;ack pepper and a tiny knob of butter. Simple rule - if it grows below the ground, cook it from cold water, if it grows above the ground, add it to boiling water.

Who's cooking today. on 23:33 - Dec 25 with 1767 views | numptydumpty | Just got back from partners parents. Her mum did everything. Traditional Turkey roast, excellent. Was for nine family members of my girlfriends. Strange for me as its first year that I have had zero family members alive so was grateful to be with partner as would have been on my tod otherwise...

This year’s winning innovations, a pinch of MSG in the gravy and roasted sprouts, trimmed and halved, tossed in oil and salt, 25 minutes at 215C. [Post edited 25 Dec 2022 23:43]
