It could be worse...poor old Oakland 11:09 - Apr 21 with 1979 viewsMrSheen

The Philadelphia, sorry, Kansas City, sorry, Oakland Athletics are following the Raiders to Las Vegas. The city has gone from three former champion teams to none in less than five years. The city is too skint to give them the funding for a new stadium they think they are entitled to...with recent attendances of about 3,000, it's not going to pay for itself.

I find it bizarre that US teams expect the city to pay for facilities

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it

Terrible for the people of Oakland, I am not sure Vegas can support a baseball team. NFL has 8 home games, you can do that as an Oakland resident and fill up the other seats with tourists/away fans on a jolly.

MLB has 81 home games, often at random times to allow teams to travel. I can't see this working as a long term thing.

Anyone watched the entertaining film "Moneyball" based on the Oakland A's?

Vegas might have enough people willing to make a 1pm Tuesday start...well, more than Oakland does.

It's weird though cos the prices at Oakland are reasonable and yet to get a tourist fan in they can't be pushing those prices up much higher. I presume, like the Raiders, it is all about the boxes/commercial opportunities it represents.

I can see Oakland from my house - if he's out in his garden. Yeah, that's the first name of the bloke who lives five doors away from me.

Good to see they've learned from the Henry Ruggs experience. Hunger for money really is repugnant.

What on earth has Henry Ruggs got to do with it?

I read that Oakland fans are doing a reverse boycott and have chosen a game to attend and try and sell out. I think it’s sometime in May.

That stadium is huge though - you can see the fcuker from the BART station! Ok the top tier is probably unviewable are but what's wrong with the lower 45,000?

I'd put that down to a general feeling of entitlement which is not unknown in that area.
