Luton 18:27 - May 1 with 5344 views | connell10 | I don't like them but I kinda admire them. Coming back from oblivion to be in the play offs . Also they lost their manager but they didn't skip a beat , unlike us who basically fell apart.

Luton on 19:04 - May 1 with 3614 views | Loyalitat | Huge respect for the club. Quite partial to having a decent percentage of possession, play through the midfield, very effective with the possession they have as they don't view the football as something to be feared or alien. And as a consequence, they create a number of chances and aren't heavily reliant on lady luck coming to their rescue. One can but hope that we transition to a similar model of playing style. This is really how the model should work, not letting Beale sign all the players he wants and then buggering off leaving them to sulk. By the same token, also not letting Gareth do the same this summer. But anyway, I digress, fair play to Luton. Them v Millwall in the playoffs will leave the local constabularies with some sleepless nights

Luton on 19:24 - May 1 with 3494 views | DejR_vu | They have a clearly defined and refined philosophy so that when a manger leaves, rather than destabilising, they cruise on, on auto-pilot. The new manager comes in, adds something that the old manger didn’t have, without taking anything away, and they get incrementally better. We, on the other hand, when we actually had a bit of stability, junked the whole thing and started again when we hit a dip. The people at Luton, Brighton, Brentford etc. know what they’re doing, we have idiots pretending they know what they’re doing, and well-meaning owners that don’t even know enough to recognise the problem.

Luton on 19:25 - May 1 with 3485 views | DWQPR | I look at some of the players that they have picked up, Bell, Morris, Lockyer, Obafemi and even Freeman, all who would walk into our side and all in the pond where we should have been fishing. And all who have cost Luton not a lot and probably lesser wages than we would have offered. Makes you wonder what Andy Belk really does do for his day job.

I would add to that list Cauley Woodrow, a player I have admired since he was at Fulham and always thought he'd be a good fit for us. He should be ready for the play-offs.

I'll get shot down for this I'm sure but I don't think any of those players are better than what we've got (Maybe one of the strikers excepted although Dykes has outscored Adebayo this season), what is different is that they were brought in for a system. Not to sound like a broken record but Belk did his best getting people like Field, Dickie, Dunne, Dykes, Paal etc but if we keep changing the system, the manager, how we set up, we're never going to get a tune out of them. If we keep letting every manager bring in his favourites, we're stuck. We've got a squad of Warburton, Beale and Belk players and soon a squad of Ainsworth players. Thats not how it should be. This is where the issue lies and will continue to lie

Agreed. People are always saying judge a manager when he's got his own players in but the reality of the Championship is that managers very rarely last that long, which is why the more sussed clubs have a system that minimises the downside of the revolving door. We had a stab at it, failed and then threw the pack up in the air. It's exasperating when you see other small to medium sized clubs making a much better fist of it.

Luton on 21:27 - May 1 with 3197 views | Northernr | Annoyingly very well run on the football side of things, hence didn't miss a beat when Jones left. Us not having to go to Kenilworth Road, and watching all the Premier League wnkrs having to deal with it, means I'm actually hoping they do it. "You'll have to provide space for the international media". We have sweetheart, it's up there on that scaffold, now get climbing.

But, as with Brentford, that then puts another club that could reasonably be considered as a smaller rival in a different stratosphere to us. If we’re going to be sh1t I at least want the others to stay down here with us.

I hope Middlesbrough do it. Weirdly though, Calamity Joe could well get Reading relegated and be promoted with Middlesbrough in the same season.

I beg to differ. Went into Admin 3 times in 5 years, thus points deduction of 10, 15 & 20 respectively for not exiting. Thems were the rules at that time. Going into Admin in those days was tantamount to cheating, build up your losses and pay off just 10%. Only We came out owing More than we went in ! On their 3rd Amin 20 point deduction (2008/9) , a further 10 points were added as they were found guilty of 56 financial irregularities/failings. Yes 56. Bearing in mind Swindon were refused promotion to the promised land for 1 breach, And we fined £1m for 1 breach (Faurlin/deceiving fans), some might say they got off lightly…..? But they have bounced back well since.
Luton on 08:53 - May 2 with 2731 views | ngbqpr | The best bit about them not skipping a beat when Edwards came in is that it makes Nathan Jones' CV look less impressive than at first glance. Prospective employers who may generously have viewed Saints as a "wrong time wrong place" blip may now think, well it wasn't all about him at Luton after all, the other bloke's done even better. Oh and imagine how Watford fans must feel - the guy who was meant to be "the long term appointment" got sacked after a dozen games as per, goes down the road to their pauper hated rivals and gets third place. So I'm not a Luton lover by any stretch, but plenty of silver linings to see here.

I've not looked it up, but I thought the third deduction was for not coming out of administration in time, with the deal being finalised within the next week. There is no point in comparing punishments given by the FA though. Not after the "consistency" they showed in 1968! Peterborough & Manchester United were both found guilty of the same financial irregularities, but I think United faced more charges. The decision? A fine for United & relegation for The Posh!
Luton on 10:29 - May 2 with 2565 views | TheChef | Yes you begrudgingly have to admire. Clearly done well in embedding an ethos and way of playing through the club. Seem to have got their recruitment spot on as well, although I think there is always an element of luck to that. Fair play I suppose. It just really grates that Luton fcking Town is a more appealing proposition for new players than QPR!!

Luton on 10:38 - May 2 with 2533 views | francisbowles | What's their set up? Do they have a DOF and a CEO? Is there anything in their strategy (apart from it works) that we can learn from?
Luton on 12:29 - May 2 with 2413 views | traininvain | Watched a bit of the Luton vs Blackburn game yesterday and I was very impressed. I thought they offered an attacking threat throughout and were hard working without resorting to some of the negative tactics we’ve seen in recent week. Not seen much of Luton aside from our home defeat against them and curious where others see them stylistically. They’ve put together a team on a shoestring budget and perhaps we should be looking at teams like them for inspiration.
