Following on from MrSheen's excellent post, what traits have you inherited from the father?
1) Turn everything off - my dad always felt edgy about leaving a light on when we were going out. Me, same.
2) Overfilling the kettle - the cry of, 'We're not making tea for the feckin' street!', is frequently aimed at Mrs PH.
3) Tongue jutting out a bit when concentrating - no idea why he did it and I do.
4) Love of animal shows and animals in general - Only thing he ever watched where he was totally fixated, only broken by something like, 'Jaysus isn't that incredible!', or 'Well, I never knew that'.
5) Loved people whom he described as 'not giving two sh1ts' or as we now call them, mavericks - Bowles, Best, Harvey Smith and bizarrely for an Irishman, Ian Botham during the summer of 1981.
6) Cry, easily - my dad was the hardest man I knew. He did a bit of bouncing after he moved from Ireland, at his funeral he was described as the hardest, but fairest bloke on the pitch, and despite being cancer ridden, got himself out of bed to go to the toilet in acute pain 30 minutes before he died. And yet, the softest thing would make him cry and regularly. Me, like him, bloody hopeless!! [Post edited 18 Apr 7:59]

We shared the same politics nearly to a tee.
A loner in that he didn't have that many friends and was comfortable with that.
Everyone says we have the same walk. I didn't notice until it was pointed out to me.
Loved nature programs and science programs, as do I.
Hold the knife and fork the same way, again was something I didn't notice until someone stated it.
Dad played CM when he was younger before he packed it in. I always played CM.

And — more importantly — a love of drawing. As an architect he'd regularly bring home the stubs of coloured pencils, crayons, erasers, and other bits and pieces for me and my sister.
He was a football fan too, though never went regularly after we moved from Sheffield and couldn't follow his beloved Blades. Their 'A' team played home games in our village so I'd usually go with him. One of my first football memories, at about four-years old, is retrieving the ball, at Dad's suggestion, from a bunch of weeds behind United's goal. I proudly gave it back to our keeper who gave me a wink and a "Thanks young'un!" Years later I realised it must have been Alan Hodgkinson who went on to play for England. Actually the thing i probably have inherited the most, is the ability to tell cr*p jokes that only he and me likewise found funny.
i often thought when he said certain things that my mum never got the joke, why do you keep doing that. Now, i am doing exactly the same.....
