| Ben Williams and his team on 21:46 - Feb 24 with 3438 views | numptydumpty | Even if he is Nourry's mate in such a public role and he is clearly not getting results, you have to look at a change. They would change the manager for such a lack of results so should stand the same for all employees of the club likewise. Seriously though, was this not one of the questions asked and chosen at the forum. Its really poor, if it was simply not chosen. The club have done some things well but they have to be consistent. This is not working. [Post edited 24 Feb 21:47]

Without knowing wtf is going on - would a football coach be running the fitness of a top cycling team. I doubt it. [Post edited 24 Feb 21:52]

The Tour de France is around 21 days in duration, with a few rest days in between. Therefore, you'd think that if you've got to get riders ready for five hours of peak performance pretty much everyday of these tours, getting the Rangers ready with, on average, four days rest per week in the busier weeks, would be a different, but not insurmountable challenge, as other clubs seem to find it. I suppose it wouldn't be if we knew what we were doing, of course!

Almost like for someone in his role, they should have decent experience of professional football? Sacked by Brooklyn Nets after one season due to a record number of injuries. I suggest Williams sticks to cycling. And if Nourry wants to promote a player selling strategy, then you're going to have difficulty doing that when your most valuable ones are all stuck on the treatment bench. He has to call Williams to account; and if he doesn't then Hoos has to call Nourry to account.

The job title is very similar to Les ferdinands role although I have no idea if their responsoibilities are comparable.

They are not. He’s in change of everything “back office” related to performance and the logistical operation around performance. So, that obviously includes the medical/physio teams, but it also includes the training ground, the pitch at LR, diet, hotel bookings, coaches, kit, etc. All of that reports up into him. He does not (well, he is not meant to) have a say in first team selection/tactics (but for who is fit and who is not), nor transfer activity and targets That’s where it differs to Les and a true DOF role. The title was a way of giving him a promotion, and, I presume, a salary bump (to keep him given he lost the Brooklyn Nets gig last summer). He reports in Nourry like Stephan, Belk, De Souza, and some others, I think. But the vibe is he is Nourry’s number 2. They are very close.

1. I wouldn't mind the medics/physios having some input on team selection provided it was clear guidance about which players need resting and which players can only play a limited number of minutes. We don't appear to have done that very well this season. From what I understand of the management structure Williams reports to Nourry, not to Stephan. Is Stephan not getting the right information from the player performance team, or is he getting the information and ignoring it? 2. It would be very QPR to give someone a pay rise just because he lost his side hustle. I hope there was a corresponding drop in pay when Williams opted to spend a year in Dubai multitasking several different sporting teams across multiple time zones. [Post edited 25 Feb 13:17]

| Ben Williams and his team on 13:23 - Feb 25 with 1934 views | Lblock | Wasn't there rumours of a few of the first team squad thinking his fitness approach was pants and using their own private PT's at the start of the season as they themselves felt they weren't fit enough? Not 100% on this but I am sure that was the whisper. This is also rumoured to be the fella who verbally destroyed a young player in front of his Senior peers - again not 100% on that but was commonly accepted. Not looking good is it | |

Kelman and Frey both said they did their own thing for conditioning over the summer of 2024. Kelman clearly bulked up a lot and looked bigger during his successful loan season with Orient. It seems strange that the club would let players go away and do that on their own. Or that players would feel the need to!

Yes. And I’ve been told one of our current players out injured has travelled back to his home country to have a 2nd opinion and some treatment there for his injury because he thinks the club have handled it badly. That is 3rd/4th hand, I must say, so take with a pinch of salt, but it happened at the start of the season with a player I believe. The incident in the canteen with one of our highest prized young assets is well known and was witnessed by many.

id agree to a point but cycling esp for an event of that sort is endurance not fast repeated sprints , turns at speed so id imagine the type of work needed for a footballer is way differnt to the cyclists

On point 1, I agree. Probably wasn’t very clear, but that is why I wrote “but for advising who is fit and who is not”). He and his team should input into the conversation on availability and fitness level for Stephan to make the decision. And yes, as I said, he reports directly into Nourry, like Stephan does, and De Souza.
