Since we became mathematically safe a few weeks back, is it me or do we seem to have reverted to pish balling about at the back? It's all a bit Warburton era knock it about for 20 passes at the back then lose it.
I hope not. 20 pissing passes around at the back has never got us any points. We're simply niot technically good enough to do that. Not many teams are.
These modern coaches need their heads examining if they think we fans want to watch the ball being played our from the back like that.
Nothing wrong with the keeper playing it short to a defender to then play a forward pass and build an attack but this passing it around at the back is boring and causes havoc leading to conceding goals or scoring chances the opponents.
I only recall one or two goals or scoring chances created by QPR in about 5 seasons of them playing this way. It isn't worth it and it drives most fans crazy watching it.

Marc Bircham got in spot in the recent pod he did with Jaz and Jamie . We donāt seem to have an identity and it changes from week to week . Iām not sure what we were trying to do tonight but a lack of desire and an ability to win any second ball seem to be the order of the day . Depressing.

It is quite something that I still don't know what his, or indeed his master's style, is. Tonight it seemed to be pass it back at every opportunity (the one late in the second half when we had a throw-in 20 yards out and proceeded to play it all the way back was particularly memorable) or boot it long for Burrell to chase. 45 matches (and the Plymouth game) and that's our 'style'. And there's a waiting list for season tickets lol.

Stephanās style is as it was in France - variations of 442, direct into the channels, inverted wingersā¦ When itās āmatteredā this season heās gone to what he knows. When it āmatteredā last season Cifuentes went to what he knew.
As soon as weāre āsafeā and building for next season we revert to a possession based, build from the back style which our players are painfully inadequate in, but our CEO/DOF is on record saying he wants us to play.
Shall we maybe sack another manager? Get the snake emojis out? Win another cup final with the development squad and see if itās all different this time next year?

Watch how Swansea played out, quick passes into midfield and into attack, trying to play balls in behind us with runners, if not get a shot in on goal. They were nothing special just very well drilled and had a gameplan which they executed. 2-1 hugely flattered us.
Our attempts were nervous passes until mid way in our half before we give it away, every single time. Usually with a blind pass played into midfield with noone there. When we had a bit of possession in their half it was slow, ponderous with no real idea of what we were trying to do. Chair made a small difference with one lovely pass to Smyth which he should have scored from but overall so poor to watch. No idea how to create a chance.

I watched on tv tonight and on Saturday and the gaps we have between midfielders you could drive a bus through it and the gap between midfeld and defence is amazing. So easy to play through, it's pretty basic stuff but we are so easy to play against most weeks. It was a genuine shambles tonight, Swansea should have won that by 4 or 5 goals.
I felt for Terry Gibson on co-comms, he used to do La Liga every week now he's watching this shit in a studio somewhere in Hounslow.

Sam Field is still a QPR player. The way we have treated him after 4 very good years for us is shameful. Heās far from flawless. He has the same limitations as Varane but he works so much harder, reads the game so much better, and is so much more physical. That stuff matters.

Sorry mate I don't think it will be. The midfield has been crap for years and he's been in it a long time as well. He's better than Hayden, Varane and Morgan but I've seen plenty of QPR games like tonight with him in the team

Heās not had this version of Madsen to play alongside him.
He was never the problem, the other part of the partnership was. Now that player is thriving, maybe try them together.
There arenāt all these wonderful, all round package midfielders waiting to be picked up for a song in the Championship. And we certainly have none coming through the ranks.
Sell Varane, reinvest part in another high potential young ball player, play Field with Madsen and reconsider if whether we want to lay 442 or have a 3 man midfield. Personally, Iād try the former with the right personnel before trying the latter again.

Yes I didn't understand what we were trying to do all night. It's a collective thing for me, blame should be shaered betrween players on the pitch coasting through games to the mansger to the coaching staff and everyone of the development coaches

If we go to 3 in midfield next season, one of Kone or Burrell doesnāt play. I suppose you could play Burrell wide, but it would be negating his biggest strengths (playing on the shoulder of the last man, and running in behind/down the channels). Iām not sure his first touch and dribbling is up to being a wide forward.
I think a big part of the reason we looked so open tonight in the middle of the park, outside of Hayden looking like his legs have gone and being in a different postcode to their players with the ball, was that we didnāt have Kone up top. He does an excellent job of dropping back in to bolster the middle of the pitch, and works incredibly hard off the ball.
We also tried to play out from the back all the time. This meant we our defence started deep to receive the ball from Walsh stretching our team from back to front across a bigger area of the pitch than when we play more directly. If the move breaks down, or we get pressed and have to go long, we lose the ball with our team spread and spaces all over the pitch.

We did miss Kone - no-one to hold the ball up meant it came back at speed. Kolli and Burrell both want the ball to feet or in front to run onto, and we can't play them both.
I've said before, we need a defensive midfielder who can tackle and ping the ball around. And we do have one... Ronnie Edwards. All the best passes last night came from him looking up and spreading the play. Asking him to play as a DCM next to Madsen would block up the hole in the middle of midfield.
