Didn't go to the Cup game in Jan but I'm intrigued to know why it takes an age to get away ?
I thought the Olympic park was meant to be designed for large numbers of visitors to come and go, and there are no massive traffic interchanges there where folks have to wait to cross main roads

The Cup game was a bit different because we took 9000 fans and their stands were pretty full because they were charging practically nothing for a lot of the seats for kids to fill the ground. Not sure they’d be full in a Championship game???? Also because of the extra time everyone left around the same time cos we’d all had enough by then.
They separated the West Ham and QPR fans so we all left through different exits but it was daft because you all end up at the same tube stations anyway.
Because of the river there are several pinch points where you have to cross bridges which slows down the crowds. Finally they close off the Stratford shopping centre after the match which also limits the number of people able to filter through to the station at one time. |  | | |

The away allocation in the premier league has to be 10% of capacity,so it’s 6,000 normally,but they don’t have that rule in the championship.But will they want 1,000’s of empty seats when they’re desperate for money to keep them afloat? | | | |

I’ve been to West Ham several times including the QPR cup game and never had any issue getting to and from the ground. If you go via Stratford and don’t know where you’re going it can be long, but if you go via Pudding Mill Lane or Hackney it’s usually fine.
The worst queues I’ve experienced was at Highbury & Islington after an Arsenal game, it was horrific in the station! [Post edited 11 May 11:39]

Made the mistake of going to Stratford with the three day walk to the away end via Chernobyl. Getting out from the away end to Pudding Mill Lane was very straightforward.
Will be much easier next season with 3k Rangers fans and 25k West Ham fans. | | | |

It's like being slowly force marched through a post apocalypse where people with stop and go signs herd you to the next concrete intersection. Still haunted by this years visual atrocity.
Next visit I’ll be guided by my son, to and from the ground, wearing a bag over my head.

The strange thing is how poorly signposted Pudding Mill Lane Station is when coming from the stadium, given that the stadium was designed to host an Olympic event. This is the signpost on Marshgate Lane, where you have to turn off and go under the bridge:

The part of the signpost (the purple one) that points to Pudding Mill Lane Station is hidden by the rest of the sign! It's like something you would see in a tiny village.
I had noticed the station on the way in to the game, so used it after the game. There were no queues, so presumably most people don't know it's there. |  |

Yeah, as bad as getting into Stratford station after West Ham is it's nothing compared to getting into Highbury & Islington after Arsenal. But at least you can spend the hour a little further up Upper Street in various boozers or whatever. | | | |

In The Prem, the 10% is capped at 3000. So it dont matter if the ground holds 74000, away team gets 3000.
In the EFL, clubs can offer the lower of: 2000 or 10% of capacity.
Obviously its open to clubs to offer more if they want but next season, West Ham or Spurs could actually offer less seats to away fans than they would do in The Prem, 2000 instead of 3000. | | | |

police closed the nearest DLR after our cup game, so i ended up on the trek to stratford, numerous crowd control but not too bad i thought. london stadium was not built for footy as we know, nor did wet spam pay for it , a token fee after uproar .
wembley is a nightmare too. they rarely use wembey stadium station into marylebone, few trains stop and wembley park was and is a disaster, those steps and when all the works went on, could have worked with TFL for a extra station exit/entry with a re-design of area, as huge spaces trackside .
new arsenal, only place i have seen human traffic lights to hold back crowds .
spurs? huge walk to seven sisters, fight for bus and the white hart lane or northumberland stations are served poorly i found on match days . | | | |
