I think the Goalkeeper is the one position where the clubs model on bedding in youngsters to sell on shouldn’t apply. Joes a lovely fella, but unfortunately I don’t think he’s good enough for our level. |  |

I think the pathway for young keepers is hard. Walsh shone in the few cup and end of season games he played a few seasons ago but for some reason the jump to week in week out has been very tough for him and he's obviously a confidence player. Once that goes it's a huge problem.
He is, like many before him a good shot stopper but again, like too many others, not a keeper that commands his area, smashes players out the way to claim crosses or catches much. Ben Hamer was one of the few, even at 105 that I've had more confidence in. He could catch the ball.
So we need someone who has some experience, perhaps is later 20s and who knows how to catch a ball, shout at his defenders and be the steady Eddie we've been looking for. He doesn't have to be spectacular but he has to be a keeper who is reliable and solid game to game, even if we lose. |  |

Goalkeepers are not expensive and in plentiful supply. Just loan one.

Wasn’t there a rumour or article or something circulating suggesting that QPR bosses think they’ve spotted a gap in the market by racking and stacking developmental GKs to supply to the whole of Europe when they inevitably become a Lev Yashin production line? Something to do with academies or scouting of GKs being disproportionately low. I can’t remember but I’m sure I read something like that.
