Sad for him and all of us. Maybe part of Bill decided that the idea of it being a lovely day any time soon was a bit of stretch and 'a tolerable under the circumstances, but who would have ever thought it would come to this in the first place anyway Jesus H Christ, DAAAYYYYYYYYY' was less catchy?

Aw no...Bill Withers. RIP. nm (n/t) on 19:10 - Apr 3 with 1012 views
Great artist and brilliant songwriter. He didn't tour much but I had the pleasure and privilege of seeing him live at the Hammersmith Odeon in the late 80s (about the time the Lovely Day remix was in the charts), a fantastic gig. It was shortly after this that he just decided to completely walk away from the music business and retire which seemed to come right out of the blue.
I've always loved this and had it on the playlist of tracks playing in the pre-amble to my wedding.
Absolute legend in my eyes. If you haven't heard it, check out the live at carnegie Hall album. Regularly mentioned as one of the best live albums around.
