| Nottingham Forest sign Luke Freeman on loan 21:38 - Aug 28 with 4947 views | sdm1508 | So the signings for them begin again. Wonder how many this time Apparently with an option to buy. Shame it didn't workout and United. Can't understand why Wilder never gave him a chance after singing his praises when signing him [Post edited 28 Aug 2020 21:43]

| Nottingham Forest sign Luke Freeman on loan on 22:09 - Aug 28 with 4775 views | Myke | He's an excellent manager who has done one hell of a job. But he gets a fair share of transfers wrong. Apart from Freeman, Robinson and McBurnie haven't pulled up any trees. And the less said about Morrison the better!! | | | |

| Nottingham Forest sign Luke Freeman on loan on 22:45 - Aug 28 with 4674 views | 1JD | Sheff Utd play passing football with no player holding onto the ball for long. It is very much about the team and not individuals. I always found the transfer strange. Freeman typically plays the game as an individual, often at the expense of other players in better positions. At 28 years old I suspect he simply could not / would not adapt to Wilders playing style and thus opportunities were hard to come by. | | | |

Not far for him to travel I assume he’s settled up north especially as it’s a loan Agree reckon he’ll give as trouble in the first game if he starts
| Nottingham Forest sign Luke Freeman on loan on 11:57 - Aug 29 with 4104 views | Hunterhoop | Where do Forest get all this money to sign have the league’s players from?! No parachute payments. Surely they are breaching FFP or sailing close to it. Freemen’s salary is surely going to be punchy. | | | |

It amazes me. A Forest friend says that the owner has some arrangement with Olympiacos, who he also owns.

this is I think signing number 3 or even 4 this window. Matty Cash due out the door for around !0 million plus a lot of inter club transfers from the owners other teams. But the players they sign wont be on low wages and their squad is large to say the least. FFP wont bother them or any other club now. The Derby debacle shows how toothless the system is. If you go into administration then 12 pts auto. Other than that it takes 2 years for anything else to be sorted. BTW the defender they apparently gazumped us for Michele Hefeler has played 15 games since arriving there in August 2018

They also sold an 18 year old with just 6 league appearances to Almeria in Spain's 2nd division for £8M last year. Nothing to see here.

| Nottingham Forest sign Luke Freeman on loan on 17:40 - Aug 30 with 3523 views | LazyFan | Wilder gave him a few chances. What I noticed from watching the games is that his fellow players never passed to him. Like he would be on for a simple 5-yard pass and totally free and forward and they still would not pass to him. Something went on there with the squad. I suspect he's not liked for some reason and has been single out by other team members. Shame. Now he can help Forest get promoted. | |

A bit harsh to say the least - didn't Freeman have a Championship record number of assists at one stage? I'm wondering why we didn't try to bring him back at a cut-price fee - he's exactly what we need. Though the seemingly FFP-immune Forest are probably paying him top dollar for this league.

The club has a transfer strategy which is buying players ideally on the cheap and developing them before selling for a profit. We’ve already done that with Freeman and now he’s a few years older it’d be more difficult to pull off a second time. Plus we’d have to pay a transfer fee, bigger wages etc. Personally I think the club should stick to the current strategy as it’s starting to work (Freeman, Eze, Bright, Manning etc) and constantly chopping and changing the way we operate doesn’t tend to work very well for us.

Interesting you say that, Lazy. I haven’t really seen much of him at Sheff Utd, so take your word for it. I was a big Freeman fan when he played for us as he was clearly the best player in the side at the time, but I found that he often did that too ie ignore players who were in a better position and keep hold of the ball. Sometimes he was justified, but often I felt he’d hold on to the ball too long. Wzolek was often a victim of that (sometimes reasonably so!) Would I want him back? As a player, most probably. However as was said above, he’d cost money, bust the wage structure, and it would hamper what they are trying to do with the club. If the price was right then most probably. They do say never go back tho. As I eventually will with Eze, we’ve moved on.

Agree - one thing I'd say is that in his final season, to be fair to McClaren, Freeman's choices improved enormously. He passed when he should, dribbled when he should. Always a good player, he became excellent that season, precisely because of improvements in his decision making and often releasing the ball earlier than he might have done in previous seasons.

| Nottingham Forest sign Luke Freeman on loan on 13:15 - Sep 2 with 2369 views | NorthantsHoop | I always liked Freeman, think we did well getting him cheap and selling on at a decent profit. Always a Championship player, will probably do well at Forest. I always felt Eze was a bit stifled by Freeman alongside him in the midfield, and it's no coincidence that once Freeman left, Eze got even better. | | | |
