And knowing us we will probably have the FA now bring a charge of disrepute against Chair and BOS for celebrating in an evocative way in front of the home fans and antagonising them* *Surely the FA wouldn't try that one, even when it is us - would they? [Post edited 8 Dec 2020 22:56]

Is challenging injustices "political BS"? Sport is one of the few professions where talent and hard work alone can be enough to make a success of it. If those who do so want to use their platform to highlight injustice, be it a Championship player's pointed goal celebration or a Prem superstar forcing government u-turns (all while not aligning themselves to any political party or dogma) - more power to them, I say.

Not quite sure i'd categorise centuries of racial oppression and injustice as bs To me their celebration was more of a fcuk you to the wall haters and i applaud them (i literally did )

We all have different views, I watch sports to be entertained not to see political statements, my choice now is to switch off, been going to LR since 1966, used to love Formula one as well and before anyone accuses me of being racist I am NOT, just fed up with the constant arguments of taking the knee, BLM, seems to be that’s all the media want to discuss.

That's naturally and obviously fair enough, superstan. As I posted on another thread, my own opinion is that we move on now and let Millwall deal with this however they want.

| CHAIR & BRIGHT on 09:43 - Dec 9 with 2029 views | LazyFan | Keep the pressure up as the racism has clearly not been kicked out of football yet. The job is not done so, keeping the pressure up like this is the exact approach to take. Sportspeople are human too and if they want to protest against the injustice of racists like Terry for example who is still in football, then we should support them even if it seems it has gone on a long time. No retreat, no surrender to the Terrys. | |

I know where you're coming from, I watch sport to be entertained. But when in the world's most popular sport, played and loved by every nation, every ethnicity under the sun, players are STILL getting abused for the colour of their skin - I'd argue that the discussion needs to continue til we get rid of that $hit.

| CHAIR & BRIGHT on 10:11 - Dec 9 with 1940 views | robith | I find it weird that people think professional athletes shouldn't be allowed to express their opinions because it might make them feel bad. Sport is inherently political. It doesn't exist in a vacuum [Post edited 9 Dec 2020 10:11]

I’m going to give it a few days. The FA have always managed to react in the most stupid way possible in this sort of situation.

Totally agree, also I feel some people want to shutdown sportspeople expressing their free opinions as in reality I suspect secretly they don't want to face the reality of it all. Often I find these people are quick to express their opinions at their workplace, especially when it affects them, but don't want their gladiators to do it in theirs.

curiously, do you get upset when they do a moments silence for remembrance day? people say they want "politics out of the game"... but the reality is, in most cases, what they mean is "they want politics they disagree with out of the game" i do agree that the media does milk this stuff tho....

Remembrance day is a day where allied nations come together to remember all who gave thier lives in conflict, be that black, white, yellow, pink or blue, also of every faith. BLM has absolutely nothing to do with football or any other sport as a matter of fact.

so? what does that have to do with football? i go to football to watch football, right? i pay to watch men kick and head a ball, not to be forced to be quiet for a minute or stand or take off my cap, right? my point is, and i think your response kind of proves my point, that people seem to have an issue with extraneous things entering into the game when they disagree with the underlying message you're effectively making a value judgment- remembrance day is valid, but blm is not.... thats fine as an opinion, but the point about it not entering football is disingenuous- though not as as disingenuous as people who try to claim that blm is some marxist movement, as if what ilias chair did ystd has anything to do with marxism in any respect whatsoever. personally, none of it offends me in any way... and in the case of chair, im proud of the him for doing what he did...

When you last stood for a minutes silence to the brave war dead of the allied troops, did you think, i know what i`ll do, i`ll go loot Sports direct, burn it down. Then i`ll go daub "Poppy" on iconic statues and places of great national significance, may even pull them down from their plinths. Then all back to the streets to fcuk up the Police. Fcuk BLM
