Weird grumble here so apologies if it sounds a bit miserable...
Since the introduction of the safe standing this season, we're clearly still trying to get to grips with coherant songs/chants. Songs are now often starting in the PL for example, and are a bit off beat by the time they reach the other blocks or can be drowned out by a sudden chorus one way or the other.
No problem with this as it's natural that we'll have some teething issues and it goes with out saying that it's fantastic to have an added vocal contingent.
I think yesterday a few in the PL got a bit carried away though, we had 4(?) renditions of Captain Jack, all at a questionable speed and once with the wrong lyrics, definitely too much Mickey Beale's Blue (and white) Army at a time when we're 0-1 down, and most criminally for me, starting an Oh We're The * Block on P!
Listen I know I will sound ridiculous to some here and I'm definitely overreacting cos of the result a bit, but if we're gonna continue being the 12th man this season, we have to keep coherant and appropriate with the songs. Too many songs yesterday seemed to just be about people getting excited to start a song rather than boost up the team. I mean 4 Captain Jack's??
Would never want to discourage people from singing, just a grumble I had from the game yesterday that it didn't always feel appropriate.
First post on here in years so be kind...
