Can't blame Dykes, he did everything right with the header. Incredible save after the post hit by Willock.

Never knowingly right.

Classic Willock there, receives the ball in the centre circle and two seconds later he's beaten the keeper.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Could be wrong but rear angle on Willock's shot looks looks like Gunn might also have got his fingers to it and tipped it onto the post...plus how accurate is Willock's shooting...always a potential game changer.

I think the Dieng saves are better. They come at him more quickly and he has to adjust much more.

Agree, that late save was superb, great positioning, slipped, reset and still got his hands on it to push away, that and the tip over in 1st Half were superb.

I’ll stick my neck out here but for me Dieng reminds me so much of Phil Parkes. He commands his box better than any keeper we’ve had since Parkes. And the best thing I like about him is that he never looks flustered. As calm as they come.

Often looks different watching on TV but whilst Dykes did all he could to get some power on his header I’d have been disappointed in a keeper if he hadn’t saved that.

His calmness reminds me of Seaman.

Agreed on balance, Steve. I thought it was decent work to get his feet right quickly to get across from his near post but the way I always try to judge a save was "how would it look of it went in" and I think it would have looked like a mistake. Or - to quote the old commentator code - he'd have "been disappointed with that".

Both Dieng and Gunn were in great form last night and kept their teams in the contest.
Dieng is such a wonderful keeper, improving with age and experience. He is able to fill the goal and narrow angles especially that fantastic save after he slipped and parried it wide of the post from the top of his shoulder.

It's the type of save keepers work on most days.
The skill is getting to your feet as quickly as possible.
Once back on his feet, he should save it, but he had to get right across his goal.
Dykes did everything right but the lack of pace on the cross gave the keeper a chance.

Yep that is how I saw it last night.... the lack of power on the cross and Dykes did well to get any power at all on it... made it savable .... but still a decent save and fair play to Dykes it was a decent effort

When I saw it during the game I wondered if the ball had crossed the line because the keeper's body was behind the line, but he gets his gloves to it over the line.

I thought the same and was waiting for the goal line technology to give the goal. Alas, it wasn't actually over the line. Great save.

I saw West London Sport gave Dykes a 6, saying he should have scored with the header. Having watched it, that is complete bo@#ocks.
The cross was floated meaning he could generate little power while standing. I thought Dykes did well to generate the power and direction that he did.
Excellent save, not a bad miss.
