Well what a difference when Jamal Lowe came on, totally changed the dynamics and Tyler Roberts looked a different player with him on and they worked it well together. NC should have left Roberts on, as he was up for it, whereas Taylor Richards is just not up to it for me.
To be honest I'd spent an hour slagging Roberts off for a lack of effort but, credit where it's due, after Lowe came on he was a different player and his first goal showed a composure that I didn't think he possessed. Amazing what a little urgency and effort provides and that is what Lowe gave us. We exposed Reading for what they are in that last half hour and that is a poor championship team, worse than us as well.
Not really, seen him a few times does nothing to suggest he is worth keeping in the Summer for the option to buy at £4million.
Roberts is the £4m option to buy. I seem to remember that Richards was £500k option and I also remember people saying similar things about Willock early on. Young players need time.

Hopefully Roberts can add to his tally, and we can enjoy him doing it. We ain't going to be paying 4 million for him though. Maybe another loan extension? On another note, his old club are really ripping it up now in the Prem - and the Toffee's are starting to make us look in good shape. Taxi for Lampard ðŸ˜
On Richards, he's just turned 22 and is on around 60 senior performances. He obviously has a lot of talent and its obvious the club want to work with him. We simply cannot be calling these young lads 'not up to it' on such little evidence. If we're going to moan about signing Jamal Lowe on loan at 28 rather than picking him up at 22 when we had the chance and developing him, we cannot then knock the fact that we actually are trying that with players now. I hope Richards stays around the squad, I hope he gets his chances and I hope we can develop him the same as we have with Willock, Chair etc.
FWIW, I though Lowe was great when he came on and gives us a much needed different outlet up front.

Don't know about that. There are a couple of games where he's come in cold off the bench and done positive things. Bit of a strange one that he hasn't had more time to be honest, I'd be giving him a half dozen starts for the rest of the season and see what we've got
Hopefully Lowe can get us to 50 points before the inevitable disillusionment consumes him.
We're only 4 points off the play-offs after such an horrendous run. Our form will turn and the last two league results have shown that we do have the stomach for the fight.
The added fillip is the undoubted ability of J Lowe whose inclusion will I believe raise the performance levels of Willock and Roberts in particular, as the place of neither is guaranteed if Lowe's cameo role today is anything to go by.
The next three games will provide clear proof of whether the last two promising league results are another false dawn. I hope not and I'm expecting a couple of victories from those games.
For the Swansea game think we need to see Lowe and Roberts start with Willock to the bench and see if they can build on the Reading 2nd half display. Interesting to see if Roberts can respond as his home displays so far have lacked conviction, but if Lowe is the catalyst that would be great. It's a shame we have to rely on loanees rather than our own at the moment, but if that is what we have to do to get us going again, then so be it.

It just goes to show the difference it makes when someone is making the right movement. It galvanised the whole team. We really have been lacking energy and an outlet. Also someone who can help stretch the defence. In fairness I think Dykes has tried to do this but he hasn't got the pace and he was always battling against two centre backs.
However I do think we shouldn't be up in arms if he doesn't start against Swansea. He's hardly played and we don't want him to get an injury before he's had the chance to get match fit.
The Lowe point was the high point of the game. There, now I've said it
LOwe expectations of the team at 3pm but now we have some Lowe down on our new Lowne signing I am hoping we wont be as lowe in the table and that we all wont be feeling so Lowensome tonight after our new Lownee sets heart a racing in the Lower Loft
Back to the OP's point; Lowe's movement transformed the game. He looked pacey and skillful from the minute he hit the pitch and didn't seem to mind getting properly stuck in.
There's been a lot written and said about the psychology of the squad recently but it must be tough to play hour after hour of football with scarcely a goal to show for it. Hopefully, with a new creative outlet to make things happen, the mood will lift a little and we'll find a bit more consistency; the constant yo-yo'ing of performances and results is draining for everyone.
