Well there you have why it would be a bad idea! Scarcely believable - but it would actually create even more controversy and furore!

In rugby, hearing the ref's and the TMO talking through their decisions and the relevant law do give you an understanding of what they have seen and how they have come to their decision. It doesn't mean you will always agree with them but at least you understand how they have made their decision. I think one of the problems with VAR at the moment, is that no-one has a clue how they have made their decision, so when you get similar incidents having different outcomes, you end up getting accusations of incompetence or bias.

Fair enough but I do think Rugby fans have a better idea of the laws than football ones - not helped by poor knowledge from the media as well. Also, IFAB, have made a complete mess of many laws the last 5 years so its hardly surprising no one knows whats 'right' and 'wrong' these days!

Wrong as usual. No one has any idea of the rules of rugby - that's why no one ever argues. It's all just a load of nonsense and so everyone just nods along. :) (agree, mic'ing up refs is just asking for trouble)

They'll need a predictive bleep for that if so.

Look at the media meltdown over Mitrovic at Old Trafford (entirely justified if they’d been campaigning against this over the past twenty years) and imagine the whole world hearing a player call a ref a “cheating fuc king cu nt!” . Perhaps I’m naive, but I reckon it would reduce some of the pressure on officials and you never know, might just see some of the smaller clubs get the odd decision.
