ITV have been filming a documentary on Maldon & Tiptree FC which they were due to start showing next Wednesday.
I say was, as it has now been delayed/cancelled following police raids on their ground, the home of their financier & his husband, plus The Swan pub in Braintree. The couple have been charged with Rape & Human Trafficking & are due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates Court today.
It will be interesting as to how many of their players/management they are able to retain for next season after winning Isthmian League One North this season. Their wages were reportedly higher than some National League South clubs.

I'm convinced that goes on much higher up the pyramid.... not just owning a club for "tax purposes" but running money through them.
One of the best books I ever read - The Football Business - skirted around this but mainly focused on the alledged dodgy Agent invoices that turned up alongside some very, very, very shadey transfers in the 90's. |  |

My mate played for Barnet when they were doing well in the football league and it was common place to be paid in cash/brown envelopes.
Maybe a hangover from the Flashman/Fry era?
