A dull second half against Preston was massively enlivened by the first sight of mystery-signing Burrell screaming up behind a defender who clearly thought he was all alone in that part of the field. The only thing that tempered my excitement was that I had the same surprise when Stephen Duke-McKenna was tearing round the Everton back line in the league cup, but was never seen again. Clive, your match reports are a huge and positive part of, for want of a better description, my "QPR experience". Your analysis is always well-argued and insightful, and your articles manage to be very funny as well. I always look forward to them and keep checking for their arrival. But your end of term reports are on another level, both the icing and the cherry on the cake. No matter how organised you are, the analysis and statistics must take you an absolute age to compile. I find it hard to believe how you are able to support your arguments with mention of, not just specific matches but of specific incidents in those matches. At my age, unless it's a 1-7 away to Coventry, I struggle to even remember results, despite being at most of the home matches.
Look, I don't want to blow smoke up your a**e but I know your contribution to this site must be a mammoth undertaking and I wanted you to know how much you would be missed if ever you decided to take a rest. Thank you so much for immeasurably improving that "QPR experience" and doing it so well.

My understanding of a ‘silver lining in this context was that the ‘cloud’ was the injury itself which robbed us of watching him for 6 months , while the ‘silver-lining’ is that because he wasn’t playing he wasn’t going to be sold. I understand the sentiment of wanting to keep and watch our best players, but we have fallen into this trap so many times in recent years (Austin should have been sold in the summer we got relegated we would have got 10M for him. BOS should have been sold a year earlier, Willock etc etc, the list goes on.)
We will never develop unless we sell our best players and reinvest in better ones. Short term pain for long term gain. Look at the season Brentford have just had. A tiny club punching way above their weight and then you look at the players they have got huge money for and only Watkins jumps out as someone who has taken their game to the next level. Players value fluctuates for a variety of reasons; form and fitness being the primary ones, and we simply have to strike when they are running hot. | | | |

I hope you are well.

I live in Australia and have not been to a game since 2004 (before emigrating I went home and away every week - mostly when we were crap - no surprise there).
I come here (Loft for Words) as you can beautifully describe to us QPR fans what is going on both on and off the pitch. It helps me feel like I am back in London although have not been for 22 years. There are some wonderful contributors to the website too. Thanks to all. Hope QPR can apply some higher standards across the club next season especially in relation to improved fitness (for all but especially our favourite players) and less bullshit.

I think of the two strikers , Kone and Burrell . The latter has the better
Chance of making at the highest level . He has pace to burn which sadly Kone doesn’t

I actually gave Kone my player of the season. From where he has come from to where he is now is exceptional. Playing games through injury and big strappings on your knee says everything you need to know about the man especially after the recent frustrations of Laird, Roberts, Richards etc. Also sacrificed his normal position for a deeper lying role for the good of the team for a large part of the season. I bloody love him!! | | | |
