Seemed like a very long winded way of saying 'we haven't actually sorted that out yet'.

Depending on your political allegiances a Corbyn government may or may not be a good thing but surely we can all agree that Diane Abbot would be a disaster in the cabinet

I’m a labour member and my view is Corbyn doesn’t genuinely want to be PM. He’s obviously keen on being leader of the opposition and determined to make root and branch changes within the Labour Party. The main reason I think this is Diann Abbot remains as shadows home sec - she is a walking talking disaster zone.

Bit weird to be focusing on her when the actual home secretary has just had to resign for repeatedly lying to cover up for policies the current prime minister introduced when she was home secretary.

Maybe a time for some more lame jokes about her maths, they never seem to get old for some people.

Diane is always good value though.

She does love to sling a lot of shite around and not expect any to be thrown back; I'm amazed she still holds such a high profile role, particularly as Labour seem to have some pretty competent back benchers at the moment.

I'm trying to avoid politics as it's such a farce; ban whoever put her mug shot on the site (sorry Loftboy, nothing personal) & let's get back to analysing the catering in the Upper Loft

I would have thought when there are problems in the Home Office as there clearly is the opinions of the shadow Home Secretary is worth hearing

If Labour get in it would require a Herculean effort for Abbott to be worse than what May is currently delivering and did deliver as Home Sec. This whole scandal is more May's fault than Rudd's, but somehow Tereflon May steers clear of the worst of it as usual. It's quite incredible. I thought it would be decades until we saw a worse PM than the dreadful lightweight Cameron (fails to win election he should've won by a landslide; then does win election he was so confident he wouldn't win he agreed to the referendum safe in the knowledge the Libs would have vetoed it - I mean, just astonishing incompetence) yet she's managed it already - an absolute disaster in every way as she gets bullied by the worst excesses of her execrable party.

Bare bones.

Hardly weird, she`s the shadow home secretary. All piers is trying to do is extract the labour parties policy on illegal immigration and how they intend to deal with the issue that to many people outside London would be keen to know. As for Amber rudd, listen to any main stream radio chat show and read any front page from the MSM today you`ll hear and see plenty of focus.

She is either incredibly badly advised or plain lazy . The answer to "what would you do " must be a standing order for any shadow minister . Its in the Labour manifesto all she had to do was read it ,memorise and repeat .. poor preparation prevents ............

I think Corbyn has spent so long being the outsider/anti establishment that he struggles when he is expected to govern. His default position has always been oppose the government/ leadership of his own party (when not the same) which usually makes him appear to be anti UK.

While she is around any media outlet who wants to divert focus on anything Home Office related can just point to her latest interviewing horror show. She is a classic Middle England box-office baddie and goes a long way IMO to making Labour unelectable.

Whether it's weird to be focusing on her or not kind of misses the point.

Whatever your views on DA, I don't think you can say she doesn't get any shite thrown her way...

'Diane Abbott alone received almost half of all the abusive tweets sent to female MPs in the run-up to the general election, research by Amnesty International has revealed.

The shadow home secretary, who temporarily stood aside during the election campaign for health reasons, came under a relentless campaign of racist and sexist abuse in the weeks before the 8 June poll. The abuse directed at her amounted to 10 times as much as was received by any other MP, according to the Amnesty study.

Amnesty researchers found Abbott received 45% of all abusive tweets sent to female MPs in the six weeks before election day. In the previous six months, she received just under a third of all abuse sent to the same group.

Black and Asian female MPs received 35% more abusive tweets than their white colleagues, even when Abbott was excluded from the total, the research found.

Abbott told the study her experience as an MP had gone from receiving one racist letter a week to hundreds every day, including letters covered in swastikas and pictures of monkeys and chimpanzees. “It’s the volume of it which makes it so debilitating, so corrosive, and so upsetting. It’s the sheer volume. And the sheer level of hatred that people are showing,” she told researchers.

Abbott said she was “not entirely surprised” she was the main target for abuse but added it was “sickening to see it in figures”.

“It’s highly racialised and it’s also gendered because people talk about rape and they talk about my physical appearance in a way they wouldn’t talk about a man. I’m abused as a female politician and I’m abused as a black politician.”

For somebody so well educated she does come across badly and seems to lack any degree of common sense. Consistently.
If Corbyn wasn't anathema to many on the Labour benches, she wouldn't be anywhere near the shadow cabinet.

Whereas it’s perfectly acceptable to refer to Tories in stupid poses as scum etc

I’m pretty much done with politics in this country. They are all pretty much the same in so much as being self preserving narrow minded lying gits and/or opinionated bigots. (I await the calls from many here saying I should be an MP)

Is there really that much difference between Diane Abbott and Boris Johnson? I say very little apart from one is more camera savvy.

Fcuk the lot of ‘em

Bang on, except not weird, but pretty much the only tactic the supporters of this walking talking catastrophe of a Tory Government have to draw attention away from its horrifying shortcomings.

She is as thick as shoite. You'd think her PR people would keep her away from any tv cameras as she always plonks her foot in her mouth. I also found her responses patronising and evasive. I don't think she actually knew the answers to the questions being asked.

And people vote for her ????

I refer the honourable board to a post I started a while back. Are there any decent credible politicians in the UK or anywhere in the world for that matter?

I don’t see Corbyn as the solution, but he is a million miles away from being the problem. Alas those charged with providing solutions are the problem! The shift toward neo-liberalism is a global disaster, that must leave Eric Blair shaking his head in horror. As has been said on here, ‘1984’ and ‘Animal Farm’ were warnings not guidance!

At the very root of the problem is the elite banking cable that pull the strings and own the planet. If I’m not mistaken, the shitbag no parading as Home Secretary is an ex-employee of arguably the worst one of the lot!!
