Sorry to hear about your job, Konk. Hope that sorts itself out - the rest is only football.

Thanks mate. I was doing some fairly basic stuff for the company/team I’ve worked for on and off for 22 of the last 25 years. 6-8am Mon-Fri, working from home and it covered the mortgage; not overly optimistic of finding something like that again! I suspect I’m fairly unemployable on a lot of fronts and it was magic for childcare, so I’m a bit gutted, but lucky it lasted as long as it did.

Giving some serious thought to becoming a film star now.

I’m willing to give it half-a dozen first team games in the Championship, and if it doesn’t feel right, I’ll hold my hands up and walk away. I genuinely believe that I would be an excellent kitman. I do all the laundry and putting clothes away at home. I also lay my son’s school uniform out for him every day. About the only positive things anyone ever had to say on my school reports or work appraisals was that I turned up on time, got on with people and had a cheerful disposition - ideal kitman qualities.

Ok, but we have a kitman.

This is how we got in financial trouble in the first place...

I lost my job at the end of March due to Covid-19, so it’ll be tap waters all round if we go through.

Quite weird in that I obviously want Fulham to win every game, but the thought of missing a possible game at Wembley is horrible.

I could be wrong, but given our poor record against Brentford and our respective strengths/weaknesses, I suspect Switchingcode thinks we’d be an easier opponent than Cardiff if they get through.

Thought we we’re very decent in the second half. Surprised how attacking we were.

I always enjoy reading your posts on here, Konk, and I'm very sorry to hear you've lost your job. I hope things work out for you soon, quite apart from the football.

Many of our fans said before lockdown it’s destined to be a Bees Fulham final and would love that to happen as it should be a good game and yes we would struggle against the likes of Cardiff but the fact we have beaten you twice counts for nothing as we done the same to Swansea.Think we could turn Swans over tomorrow but wouldn’t be confident of doing the same to you as thought you looked excellent last night after the first 15 minutes.Good luck in your job search

Hook_Hoops - thanks mate.

Switchingcode - that second half last night was about as well as we’ve played all season - much more attacking intent than we normally see. I thought your win at our place could easily have been a draw and we missed a couple of good chances, but psychologically, I do think our poor record against you is a factor. If we get through to Wembley, I’m more confident now that we can at least trouble teams, but you’re a very tidy side. Saw your win at Ashton Gate and although it was distorted by the early sending-off, I thought you looked excellent.

Edit: Parker also gave quite possibly his first ever interesting/insightful interview after the match, so maybe things are looking up!

Fulham were very good last night, in every department, Onomo? very good, pretty much took care of Cardiff in every department.

I've always wondered what Plan B is with a Neil Harris team?

Pass to each other?

Good luck with job situation.

Anything on the horizon yet for another job?
Are you still down the other end of the M4?

sorry to hear about your job Konk, hope you can get something else.

I've fancied Fulham to win the playoffs for a while a bit like us in the Redknapp promotion have got players who could win these big games but never quite looked like doing enough for the top 2

A40Bosh/L, Thanks mate. We're actually very lucky as we can get by on my wife's salary as long as we're sensible. Her job ought to be very secure for a number of reasons, and we should be fine.

I haven't started looking for work yet - I've been looking after our son during lockdown and I'll wait until the end of the Summer holidays before having a proper look around. Don't want to do go back into the same industry, so I need to have a think about retraining or something. We've been a bit spoilt with flexible working in London and then an absolute stroke of luck with my old boss allowing me to work whatever hours I wanted (2 hours a day seemed about right!) in a role that paid well and was pretty much finished by 7:30 in the morning. Was great to be able to spend so much time at home with the wee man, before and after nursery/school, but hey-ho! We'll be fine.

Still in Bristol - absolutely love it. Miss family, friends and Fulham, but other than that, we've really landed on our feet.

Hope you and yours are all okay. Take it easy and I hope your trips to Germany and the Netherlands go well!

Very sorry to read about your loss of job Konk.

As a side issue, will this affect the fee that you were charging for hospitality to away fans travelling to Ashton Gate? Or will more spaces be available?

I'm still hopeful of an all London play off final & may the best man win!

Sorry to hear about your job too Konk but wanted to say that your attitude to the situation is very heartening and I'm sure you'll adjust with that outlook.
Good luck getting something sorted but I'm sure you'll be fine. All the best in the football too.

Funny you should say you want to be a film star because I’ve written a script about two football fans of an under achieving team who drown their sorrows in their local boozer and have hallucinations about taking on an army of buxom titanic maidens in a mud wrestling ring. The drama is on the everyday stories.

The Ashton Gate corporate hospitality is very much still on, and we will be freezing prices for 2020/21. With games being played behind closed doors or without away fans, corporate guests will probably end up sat on my sofa listening to matches on local radio, so I think bumping the prices up would be a bit of a liberty.

Karl - cheers, mate. Can't grumble at all in the grand scheme of things.

Thanks for considering me for the role. It certainly sounds interesting. I'll get my people to speak with your people and sort something out.

I think Casualty is filmed in Bristol. That would be ideal. Is Charlie still going? I could be his brother/son/boyfriend (not all at once). I'm quite versatile. I can do sad, happy, confused, angry, amused, poorly and dying. I can't do crying, though. Ideally I'd be a doctor or nurse, but I'm happy to start out as a worried parent/son/brother/boyfriend/husband/vicar/bus driver. I just need to get my foot in the door and get myself noticed by the big players in Hollywood.

If anyone involved in the casting of Casualty is reading this, I can do early starts, but need to be home for 8am to get my son ready for school. Would sooner not do more than two evenings shoots during the week, and can't do weekends. Other than that, I am very flexible and work well, either on my own or as part of a team. Weaknesses: I am sh it at remembering anything (could be a problem with scripts) Strengths: I am sh it-hot at improvising.

Hello Konk.

Sorry to hear about your unemployment woes, hopefully something will materialize in the not to distant future.

Just a thought but you could maybe start your own printed T Shirt business working from home something along the lines of "I Sat On Konk's Sofa" "Konk's Got A Pretty Good Radio" "The M32 Is Lots Of Fun"

I dunno, you sound like an entrepreneurial type of bloke? either way like I said I hope things work out for you.

Good luck Fella.

I think Freeman is quite territorial with his windows. Sees it as his thing. I had a good mate who was in the visual merchandising game for John Lewis, and he was very much a man with a singular vision when it came to window displays. Once said to me, “What would you know? You can barely dress yourself, never mind a window!”. I suspect Freeman would be equally touchy. Not worth the hassle, mate.

Thanks Ted. That’s a great idea. You’ve inspired me to launch my own clothing line, which would be exclusive to corporate clients: SIBSIL (Successful In Business Successful In Life). Each T-shirt will feature an embroidered SIBSIL logo (a man drinking champagne in a Ferrari with a big watch on his wrist and a page 3 model in a top hat sat in the passenger seat).

We will also have the slogans you’ve suggested along with “I forked out £3k to watch Bristol City v XXXXXXX but owing to Covid-19, all I got was four cans of San Miguel, some sausage rolls and a hand job in Greville Smyth Park”.

Bundle update: we can take our garden chairs down to Ashton Gate car park and listen to the game from there. Soak up the atmosphere.

Definitely was filming in Bris when I was working there. They filmed a scene near where I worked off Queens Square. All day some poor bloke was stood on top of a building in his hospital gown in the freezing cold, for what turned out to be about a minute of film.

Maybe go for a job in the catering side, looked much warmer.
