Dykes v England 22:21 - Jun 6 with 11542 viewsnumptydumpty

If lyndon dykes scores against England maybe a fortunate hatrick in a one off game

Stranger things have happened, Dennis Bailey v man utd away 1992 hatrick and really bang average player

So dykes removes England from their glorious euro destiny...

Every away ground next season is he likely get the boo boys on his every move and what effect will it have on his game next season

I convinced myself this is the future reality we face

My nights are sleepless

Don't do it Lyndon. You know it makes sense !!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Not under 21/22 laws, which they are using now. Full details on the "Euros" thread I started, but essentially accidental handball by attacking side IS allowed again, as long as the person doing the handling doesn't score.

Thanks for clarifying that PP.

Having watched the highlights I think Dykes did pretty well. The stubbed effort we heard about wasn't as stubbed as they say and it was an excellent save. Plus his presence and physicality seemed to cause a lot of problems.

Yep, far better players than him will miss far easier chances than that at this tournament.

If he didn't play for us, wouldn't have even got a mention on here.

Marshall had to make 3 or 4 saves in the end.

Can't see either of these two getting anything from Croatia or England.

Agreed,

I don't think they're at that level. England seem the best team in that group, Croatia are next even if they look to be more reliant on Modric since Rakitic retired.

Croatia unusually poor in that first game, wonder if they'll find their feet as it goes on but I was surprised how ineffective they were.

Partly due to Kalvin Phillips, who, when Geoff Cameron isn't sharing the pitch so his concentration is on football and not murder, is a good player. He and Rice did a great job on their midfield.

Bare bones.

Not a young team either. They're still probably good enough to qualify as I thought they looked solid enough, just a bit one-dimensional in terms of creativity.

England were good, though, and were good from the off. Hard to break down with Declan 'Up the Ra' Rice and Pigtails Boy playing well in holding midfield.

As the tournament progresses, I suspect Rice and Phillips will be found out by the better teams. Once sides get beyond those two, I do not fancy Mings or Stones to be that solid.

I have picked England to reach the Semi Final again for the second major tournament and feel confident they will score enough to do it.
However their defense is not world class with those Stones and Mings and of course behind them Pickford is shaky at times .
But with their talent up ahead they can recover from the odd mistake I suspect

Alvaro Morata has generated £161m of transfer fees in his career. Happy to take half of that for Lyndon.

All depends who we get in the 2nd round. Going to be one of France, Portugal or Germany in all likelihood, if we manage to get past that we've done incredibly well.

No worries, not helped by lack of knowledge by those paid to work in the media.

Haven't heard one mention of the fact that handball law is different in this tournament to what we have seen all season.

Against Czechs and the Scots I think they will look pretty decent!

Its football though, so I could end up totally wrong.......again!

Hard pressed to imagine the Scots getting a point, can't even imagine them conceding less than 3 goals per match in the last 2 against England and Croatia. They may score a goal or two, but I think they are done

Not really a fan of the phrase 'found out'. Unsure what it means, really. It usually seems to refer to a team losing a couple of games and people think everyone has seen the magic secret on how to beat them, which is nonsense, and suggests teams cant evolve. In this case, I guess you mean Phillips and Rice will come up against some top quality opposition - maybe Pogba/Kante/Mbappe etc or Ronaldo/Fernandes/Felix. And, yes, absolutely, there are huge challenges for them there. But both players play against these types of players most weeks. It won't be completely alien to them. And, all teams will find it rougher against better opposition.

So far, I've seen little beyond Belgium for England to worry about, but when you look at France and Portugal's squads, they do look outstanding, and we are so bad at defeating the good sides in tournaments, particularly knock-out stages. Still, all those teams will also be worried that Sancho can't even get into our top 23, when he'd walk into most sides (tbf, he should be walking into ours!).

Fully agree on the centre backs and keeper though - they are, by some way, our weakest points. I'm not even a huge fan of Maguire, but he is better than Mings.

Bare bones.

To be fair Phillips stuggled against Geoff Cameron

His sending off is still one of the most ridiculous things I’ve seen on a football pitch. Up there with the Barton sending off v Norwich. Bradley feckin Johnson.

'Found out' is in the top echelon of my lazy football cliches bingo list. It's just meaningless. Ditto flat track bully. Are we supposed to be surprised when any player finds a game against better opposition tougher going?

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Have to agree.

Don't forget that in the 1st half of the season someone on here said Dykes wouldn't get in his pub team and we spent most of the season saying how poor the Championship was and now we're expecting Mr D to be banging them in, playing in his first major tournament for a team that's going to finish 3rd at best or most likely 4th, in their group!

Was surprised that Petkovic didn't start up front as he is basically their only out and out forward in the squad. They quite clearly haven't replaced Mandzukic and look like they rely on Perisic and Kranmaric to get goals from out wide
