Both keepers made the saves any good keeper would if you hit them near enough to save.

Possibly because there is a slight delay in shooting giving the keeper time to get in the right position and perhaps our efforts are not quite in the corner out of the keeper's reach. Hard to explain and more galling when you see teams like Sheffield United who couldn't score suddenly get six the other day.

Bentley always seems to play well against us.

Was about to say. The curse of the ex Southend boy strikes again.. Every time! He’s reaction said it all when they got the winner and at full time when the whistle went

Correct. For me the only actual clear cut chance was Dykes in on goal, but he took it far too early giving the keeper his best chance of saving it. He had time to go another few strides at which point the keeper would possibly have to commit/spread himself, instead of dykes gifting him a routine save.
Some of the approach play was sublime and on another day dykes header drops inside the post. The 127 pass move that came to nothing in the 2nd half would have been goal of the season. That last little one two that went wrong would have seen chair in.

We need to start overloading the left again. It works so well for us. McCallum is coming out of his shell and well capable of doing what Wallace does down there

Bentley’s save from Dykes was top notch. The fact that Dykes took his shot early should make it more difficult for the keeper to react. Still not sure how Bentley got down to it but just one of those days.

The crucial miss was on Dykes' second chance when he placed the ball to Bentley's left.
Bentley did very well to save it but he shouldn't have been given any chance at all.

You are missing the point blank shot after the 1-1.

Assuming you’re talking about the shot after the one-two, then that was a bad miss, no two ways about it. Thought so at the time but it’s even worse having just seen it again. It was a “good” save, but nothing more. A tame and hesitant shot.

It was an amazing reaction save. I was in the Upper Loft and couldn't believe it.

Suffering since 1978.

They are not 'world class' saves....just decent keeping and poor finishing basically - perhaps one or two have been excellent but others are more down to average shots, etc.

100% agree
The keeper does his job but watching the highlights all the shots are too close to him.
We needed to shoot closer to the corner of the goal to score.

Except when he gifted us the 2nd in the 2-2 comeback game against Brentford?

Then there was that geezer that got himself sent off in a home game a few years back. My memory won't let me bring it to mind.
