Look at the league table It aint over yet, we'll be back on it soon.

| We Are Still In Fourth Place. on 22:38 - Feb 15 with 1552 views | joe90 | Football doesn’t always go to plan. I thought late Dec/early Jan would be a difficult period for us. I also thought we’d win 2-0 tonight, shows what I know! Judging from how we’ve played this season, a bad run was always on the cards. That said, I’d rather have the problem of staying in the play-offs than avoiding relegation, like in previous seasons. I don’t think we’ve been ‘found out’. How we set up and play isn’t a secret. It’s simply about being better than your opponent on the day. That doesn’t always mean playing better, sometimes you just need the other team to make a mistake. Whatever it is, we’re not doing it at the moment and it’s not happening for us. It’s not a lack of technical ability, the side just look tired and slow. Saturday will be a tough game in front of the home crowd. If we see a similar performance the fans will get on their backs. We expect better because we’ve seen what this team can do, not because we’re entitled. Let’s hope we see an improvement. | | | |

| We Are Still In Fourth Place. on 22:39 - Feb 15 with 1541 views | QPunkR | The problem is not only that every other team has worked out how to stop us playing, but we seem utterly incapable of stopping any opposition strolling right through the centre of our team | |

| We Are Still In Fourth Place. on 22:24 - Feb 15 by nix | Good post Ted. We just looked a bit weary across the team today. I've seen Dykes, Chair, Field, Johansen, Field, Adomah and even Willock all blamed for today. Maybe it's just that they're not firing on all cylinders at the moment. We have had a number of 'must win' games and it may mentally take its toll. Blackburn, Bournemouth and West Brom have all had wobbles. It's not surprising that we have too. |
Yes, this was worse than Barnsley for me in that we had about our best 11 out. You mentioned Field twice but I think he was our best both today and at Barnsley. But the others yes, way off their best. Chair's passing even short passing was atrocious and he shot in impossible positions. I was surprised he was wasnt take off at HT for Amos. Willock off his best , perhaps not fully fit. Same with Johansen. Albert had a mare and Dykes was hardly in the game but then it was being played in our own half. Wallace has been nowhere near his best for a number of games. Dickie not quite at it either and think he has a 2 match ban now or perhaps after 1 more card. Time to give Sanderson a game or 2. Worrying that these key players are out of form. I'd like to see a formation change for a game or two so we are less predictable for the opposition.

| We Are Still In Fourth Place. on 21:54 - Feb 15 by ted_hendrix | The performances have been dreadful of late, I've seen that happen a heap of times but we don't suddenly become crap over night (although we have) we'll get it back I'm sure. It's Manager time now. The wheels have come off so he's gotta put them back on. Like I say fourth place, I'd have killed for that back in August. F uck Millwall and Barnsley that's now history. These results and dips in form happen all the time. Ride it out. |
It’s unusual that everybody’s form drops at exactly the same time though. We have won plenty of games on the back of the individual brilliance of one or two star performances, but when absolutely no one is on it, we see what it looks like over the last two games. Our confidence looks to have simply drained away and pretty much everyone looks affected. Warbs needs to find the solution or we will plummet in no time. Said it before….. time to dispense with the wing back system. Another poster suggested a 3:4:3 formation. Sounds like a plan to me.

*Warbs needs to find the solution or we will plummet in no time* As I said earlier it's Manager time now, the drop in form is a concern the players themselves don't look right un less I'm seeing things wrongly. Look we've been here before with drops in form, I'm the worlds worst loser but all things being equall we're having an excellent season and before someone kills me for being boring, take a peek at the league table, don't look bad to me, could be better yep but it aint. Gotta take a slap now and again.

Ted, I missed Saturday's game and tonight's and will miss the next three - GAA season kicking in here and my team are in the thick of it. Thanks for the optimism. You're a rational poster but also unafraid to call it when it has to be called. It's reassuring coming from you.

I was expecting a bit of a 'bounce back' from our players tonight after Barnsley, I knew Millwall would be difficult. We got no 'bounce back' more of a bounce around our half of the pitch. It's a well worn phrase 'how we respond to defeat' but tonights performance was disappointing right across the whole team. Can't analyse it meself If I'm honest. Hull and then Blackpool at home next, both have now become important fixtures in our season. We'll see.

Just taken three hard slaps in the space of a week. We either start slapping back or end up on our arses and out of contention.

| We Are Still In Fourth Place. on 08:10 - Feb 16 with 1010 views | Hoopsie | A certain club in Hounslow lost 3 in a row around this time last year after an unbeaten run of 21 matches, one of the 3 losses was against us 2-1 at HQ (the first lost being Barnsley, ok they were form team too), dropped off from auto promo position after but went on to win in Wembley. Point is, this happens. We just need to come back stronger. We can do it. [Post edited 16 Feb 2022 8:15]

Good point. We were always going to have a wobble between January and May. I thought it would happen in January with players away at AFCON. Turns out it’s happened in February. Maybe we underestimated how much the wins against WBA, Coventry and draw with Middlesbrough took out of the team. They were tough matches and it’s hard for players to maintain that level of intensity. The players probably could’ve done with a break and some warm weather training instead of Peterborough away in the cup. The question now is how quickly can Warburton turn this around. Three winnable (but not easy as it’s the championship) home games coming up. A win on Saturday and we’ll have a platform to go on another run. Still all to play for and plenty of twists and turns to come I’m sure.
