I discovered Harmonium through a Canadian comedy show. This song, released in 1974, was used to perfect effect in the program, and has stuck with me for the past three years or so. Their entire catalog (just three albums, as they felt they said all they had to say and said it well) is quite good. I even ordered the digital album of a recent orchestral interpretation of their songs! But this song always will be the one for me.
I've been doing a lot of decorating in our house over the past year and found delight in having classical and instrumental compositions on whilst doing it. Music to work to without getting distracted by lyrics.
From this I discovered the delightful Penguin Cafe Orchestra who I'd never heard of before...
"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."
Listening to Desert Island Discs the other day, I heard this song - never listened to the moving lyrics seriously before - jilted society lover who shot her seducer and faced a lynch mob.

I first heard it when Kirsty McColl sang it. It's a great song.
