Dom Ball - where is he? 18:36 - Apr 6 with 8439 views | HammersmithR | Does anyone know where he is? Completely out of the squad for what seems like an eternity. Not the best player but never let us down. Seems to have been usurped by Hendrick who has literally contributed naff all since he joined us. No goals and no assists. Can’t believe Hendrick is ahead of Ball with the way we have been playing since January. Has anyone actually asked Warburton where Ball is and why’s he not even making the squad? He can’t use the excuse of people being better than him in the squad as we have been so inept for weeks now.

Dom Ball - where is he? on 04:14 - Apr 8 by eastside_r | Wow really. 2nd to Prince Andrew? Yeah, hyperbole to make your point but this is bordering on trolling. |
Poor analogy but short of comparing Austin's goalscoring record to Seny Dieng it's getting ridiculous how fans are trying to justify his contribution this season. People complain about a £40 membership for the B+W bar but have no issues with our owner being short-changed by our highest paid player. Will season ticket prices have to increase to pay for his contract next year which is likely 20% of all season ticket sales? Perhaps some of the fans who care so passionately about season ticket prices and getting value for money might consider helping Ruben + Co out and contributing to Austin's salary next year. Some did it for Doo Doo and but for Ruben's benevolence we're in the same position now. Anyway, back to Hendricks...

Charlie did okay against Everton when he had some crosses. The main issue with our strikers is the lack of service - how many chances have we created in the last few matches? We barely cross it accurately from the wings; with Field and Hendrick in the centre, 95% of the time we go backwards; and Chair has been slow in releasing the ball since he came back. The saddest thing about our season is how we've wasted Willock's outstanding contribution.

Agree regards Willock and to an extent on crossing but Hendrick almost managed to secure draws at Sheffield United, Blackburn and another game recently by showing fitness + desire to get in the box in the last 10, Dykes the same at Barnsley although missed what looked like a sitter, so this isn't an excuse for Austin who's lack of mobility and the fact he now struggles to lose his marker from getting on the end of these opportunities. How many posters have offered up the lack of crosses in defence of Dykes? Agree re Austin headed goal v Everton but I think we'll be a long time waiting to see Austin lose his man and Chair cross first time, hope I'm wrong come Saturday.

lack of crosses and poor final ball is a problem for all the strikers which is part of why none of them have scored many goals this season. Dykes has 2 in his last 15 games but hasn't missed loads, in his last 2 games only had one chance to score which was at best a half chance. It's a bit chicken and egg with this problem. All the forwards movement and hold up play has been poor most of the time whilst the midfield are far too slow to give them the ball, both areas of the team could do with performing a lot better

Hendricks has managed to almost score 3 crucial goals late on in recent games getting on the end of crosses into the 6 yard box, Dykes similar at Barnsley, for all the criticism these two get, that is testament to their professionalism and fitness. Gray's goal return is very good, Dykes's was likewise before Forest injury, Austin has scored two good goals this season I can recall from crosses, one he was offside despite looking across the line, the other was a very clever nudge on Holgate and a great goal. Even the clever nudge against Everton shows he just does not have the fitness required at this level of football to be able to lose his man and do what even Jeff Hendricks has been able to do, which is fairly damning imo.

Bring back Kane? He did at least try and sling in crosses at every opportunity, so many that the few that were decent were more than we have often managed recently. No, he's gone to Coventry in more ways than one.

Dom Ball - where is he? on 16:54 - Apr 7 by daveB | I do find every thread turning into a i hate Charlie Austin thread a bit tedious to be honest but it's my fault for biting back every time. I should learn to walk away really but it's like a breakfast buffet I just have to go back for more. All I'll say is for how terrible he is and how he's robbing the club or whatever his record this season in his 14 starts is won 6 drawn 5 and lost 3. He's made 2 league starts since January in the league (2 draws). The teams record isn't that bad when he starts games. Maybe if he started a few more he might get into a rhythm rather than coming on when the team are losing. Who knows, when he had a run in the side starting 5 out of 6 games in Nov/December we won 4 of them and he scored 2. I don't think he's been very good this season, he was dreadful at Peterbrough the other month but he's hardly played during the run which has killed our season, you might as well get angry at Jordy De Wijs (who didn't come cheap either) if we're pointing fingers at Austin after every defeat he doesn't feature in. Just imo but people really need to tone down some of the hyperbolic language around players. Has Stef been as good as last year, no, not at all. But a freeloader? Come on. We're all disappointed in how the season has panned out, but honestly there's at times more vitriol for players in a team that have been competing for the play offs all season than there was for the overpaid bloat that took us down in the Hughes reign

Just ordered a copy. £10.79 through Amazon. Here is the blurb. It is raising money for a very worthy cause. A book every parent should read before allowing their child to join a top-flight football academy, Dominic Ball’s moving memoir is the real-life mud, sweat and tears journey of six band-of-brothers friends and their quest to become Premier League footballers. Plucked from junior clubs as primary school age children by England’s biggest football academies, From Winning Teams to Broken Dreams reveals the inside out experiences of boys who strain every sinew to make the grade. A Championship level footballer currently with QPR and a former England Under-20 international, Ball lifts the lid on the highs and lows, doubts and fears, lucky breaks and heartache, trials and tribulations, lonely loan moves and cruel, untimely injuries experienced by many young footballers. Written to raise funds for Sarcoma UK, a charity that supports research into the rare form of bone cancer that claimed the life of Spencer McCall, one of the six boys featured at the age of just 26, From Winning Teams to Broken Dreams shines a light and poses serious questions about football youth development in England.
