I love when you're walking round DUMBO in New York, and you're like "that's such a stupid name"
and then you turn the corner and you're like "...oh"
Likewise the wharf in Philly with a load of oldie time pleasure cruiser paddle boats, and the Benjamin Franklin bridge marking the border between Pennsylvania and New Jersey
It's the far better choice of bridge to walk across between the two, too, I think. From the Brooklyn side anyway - far less crowded, you get the view of the Brooklyn Bridge anyway, and ends in Chinatown rather than the comparatively dull Park Place. Saying that the Brooklyn Bridge is a total classic, just go fcuking early these days.
The Golden Gate takes some beating though - the size of it, the depth of the water underneath. Great for cycling across. Some of the light and fog it gets are fantastic.
Would love to cross some of those suspension bridges in other parts of the world: Japan and Turkey have got a couple of big ones. And I really like that walking bridge between Waterloo and Embankment.
Love me a good bridge.

I forgot to mention the Forth (Railway) Bridge - that was always my favourite as a kid, might still be. We stayed in a place in North Queensferry in July 2020, between the lockdowns. Quality bridge.

Filthy, ugly, eyesore, poorly maintained, the Tobin. Crosses the Mystic River on Boston's north side, great views of large seagoing vessels, oil tanks, dilapidated industrial areas and slum housing. Love using it.
Favourite bridge , Brooklyn, loved walking over that. Least favourite , the footbridge that takes you from wildridings to Great Hollamds in Bracknell, my brother used to dangle me over the side by my ankles as a kid, wasn’t pleasant.
favourite cheese mature Cheddar. FFS there is no such thing as the EPL
Whenever I spot one or realize I'm close by...I have to drive through it. Then, if possible, pull over and walk its length. Ironically, I've never yet had the opportunity to do so during a snowstorm!

Winner.
Would love to see one of these.

Tower Bridge for me. A fantastic engineering feat of its time and the gateway to the pool of London. Not many people get to open or close it but my Mum opened it in September 2017 with my lad closing it. It was a childhood dream for my Mum to open it as she regularly walked down to the north embankment as a young child with her parents to watch it open and close. And it will open to 68 degrees although it can go to 90 degrees and the only person who is allowed to do that is her Maj. And anyone who hasn’t been inside it is now a working museum and very much worth a visit.
Tsing Ma Bridge for me in Hong Kong. I spent three years there working on it 1993-1996 and it was by far the best job in my career. Build by a consortium including Mitsui, Costains and my lot at the time Cleveland Bridge.
Fantastic project and beautiful Suspension Bridge.

London bound. Drive over the Thames on the M3 , Chertsey bridge to your right in the distance. Over Twickenham Bridge ,than over Chiswick Bridge. 3 times over one river. And then over the Chiswick flyover. Four bridges to get to Shepherds Bush. Chiswick flyover probably my favourite Bridge.. feels like a roller coaster..lol

Yeah, the Clifton Suspension bridge is a pretty amazing piece of engineering in a lovely setting, and a great gateway to the city as you come along the Portway. Love the Forth Rail Bridge too.
Favourite London bridges: Waterloo - for the design, but mainly the views, and Hammersmith Bridge, because it’s the starting point of my walk to the Cottage after leaving the pub. Never got on with Tower Bridge - possibly because of the colour scheme.
Further afield, I have a big thing for the Stari Most bridge in Mostar - stunning bridge in a stunning setting. I spent about nine hours eating and drinking on either bank of that river, and spent most of that time just staring at the bridge.
Big fan of the Aerial Lift bridge in Duluth too
I love a bridge.
Fulham FC: It's the taking part that counts

was at this exact spot a couple of weeks ago and those two bridges are pretty iconic. My Grandad lived in Brooklyn from about 1900 and his address given at Ellis Island was at the spot on prospect street where Manhattan bridge started construction a couple of years later.

Another huge lover of bridges but also of spans in general. Nothing like a bloody good viaduct or aqueduct to have you staring in wonderment.
Been fortunate in my travels to traverse many of the far flung offerings suggested here. The Kwai particularly poignant memories from my first trip there in 1990, as I met a returning Aussie who’d returned to get closure having been forced to work on it. Alas, I returned 20 years later: it had more of a theme park feel.
Albert, Hammersmith are beautiful but if you’ve ever done the London marathon, Tower Bridge is amazing.
However, while I know it’s not a bridge, to this day I’m still impressed by the Wharncliffe Viaduct in Hanwell. Brunel knew how to build an effing good span. Later this year, I’m doing the Glenfinnan Viaduct in Scotland.
One of my best spanning days was to spend time at the Roman aqueduct at Pont du Gard followed by a drive over the Millau viaduct. Utterly incredible builds.
